this is a classic 1966 Heilite Valiant model two wheeled tent trailer. these were made of aircraft grade aluminum. very light weight and can be pulled by most vehicles. very good original condition. no dings or dents. I have replaced the puny stock 8" wheels with new 12" tires and wheels. 2 new hubs with all new bearings and seals along with new bearing buddies, tow it anywhere! still has the original tail lights in very good condition. these trailers are hard to find in any condition, let alone as nice shape as this one is! I am asking 350.00, which is about what I have invested in it. I just paid the registration for it so it is current. trailer is located in Lodi, California (Heilite trailers were built in Lodi, California). about an hour south of Sacramento California.
here is a link to a Heilite two wheel Valiant trailer site:

That's a pretty cool little rig. Got any pics of the frame underneath? I am wondering it if could handle an upgrade in the axle department.

And I am right down the road from you in Ripon.:)

That would sure look purdy behind a Rover:)

the suspension is torsion bar, I was going to add a 2" square tube spacer to lift it a bit, should be real easy to mod it, never got around to it though. I think it had a channel frame, don't remember what size though. just changing from the 8" wheels to 12" wheels made a big difference in ground clearance. the factory specs say 11" of clearance so with the larger 12" tires it should be even more.
shoot me a pm or e mail if you want to see it in person.

How is the canvas and screens?

Louie

I don't really know what kind of shape the canvas, screens and road cover are in as I never have installed them. not sure if they can be repaired or if new ones would have to be made. there are several companies that will make new canvas for these older trailers with the old canvas as a template. all I have done is replace the tires and wheels along with the new hubs, bearings and seals to make it roadworthy so I could tow it home.

I just found one of these for sale not too far from me and I think I am going to pick it up for a very good price.

my '62 heilite valiant

was browsing info on my lil camper and i came across this site and this forum .. i saw land rovers and i saw a heilite thread.. home sweet home..lol.. i have a '62 that i use for "quad camping" .. i pull it through the trails with my quad to campgrounds or any random place i decide to camp that day ..i painted it to match my quad and added some decals and newer tail lights..had a new heavy duty zipper installed in the front door.. it's a been a lot of fun and i get a lot of looks pulling into a town or a campground with my sleeping arrangement attached to my ATV..always been quite a conversation starter. I live in far northern, mi (Da U.P.) and we have a great snowmobile/atv trail system that i can go anywhere on..thought i'd include a few pics of my camper I have named "Dirt Nap".. oh i also added some diamond plate aluminum to the front panels to deflect things coming off my tires.. and it looks cool.. dual function..lol
