I too am restoring a vintage alaskan like yours. Wondering if you have a line on the more Alaskan specific parts. As for heavy duty coatings look at durabak it comes in a smooth finish and you will have several colors to choose from. http://www.durabakcompany.com/

Not only that durabak is UV resistant. Having done herculiner myself and helped a buddy with durabak I am going to use durabak on my next project.

:Wow1:Thanks for all of the tips on DIY bedliner installation & materials available. I'll have to look into the Durabak link..... If it's smooth enough to use for the roof, that might be the ticket & add slight insulating qualities. I'll check it out!
Norcalgobbler: Start a thread &/or post some pics of your restoration! When I went looking for advice & tips on restoring the old Alaskan's.... I found nothing. That's when I decided I was going to do a 'Build' on mine. Maybe, it'll assist someone else sometime in the future.
As for Alaskan replacement parts.... I've contacted the factory for most things and they have a good supply of parts. For some of the truely vintage parts, I've done business with Vintage Trailer Supply (http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/) and had great Customer Service from them. Check it out...
At a bit of a stand still currently on the Alaskan.... Waiting for the foam guy to fit me in and I was in FLA over Memorial Day Weekend purchasing a beautiful Verlen Kruger designed "Loon" Canoe. Loon Link: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=400939#post400939
I guess I've been a bit distracted for a few days! Also, brought back my buddies 1992 Dodge/Cummins First Gen to hang onto for a while.... Something about too many cars in his driveway & the Home Owners Police weren't too Happy.

I'm stalled out for a moment awaiting the "Closed Cell Foam" Insulation Guy & my work has given me 5 weeks off as a shutdown while the Auto Industry passes a Gas Bubble.....
I'm heading for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area with my new (to me) canoe & the Dodge/Wildernest for a few weeks!
I promise to have it spooled back up again by mid July! Thanks for checking In!

I am going to be looking hard at the new addition to the family (the 1965 10' NCO) while you are gone. From what I saw today it has its challenges as well!
I am hoping to get it prepped and ready to shoot with foam along with Keeno's 8'.
It was kind of a sad day today as Keeno and I set the top of his Alsakan outside and covered it up all nice and dry under a tarp. All this so I could have room in the shop while he is gone. Be safe Brother ... you will be missed!
This has been a fun project so far ... have been enjoying it so much I had to track down one of my own to add to the mix.
The best part of the whole deal was the trip to get it. But that is another story all together. More to come soon!

The Maddness has Multiplied....
Just getting back from a 7 week road trip (a gift from my work when I was told I wouldn't be need while they straightened out some finacial matters) and getting back into the Alaskan "Resto-Mod" with the help & knowledge of my buddy Eric.
While I was away.... Eric drove out to San Diego and purchased a 8' Alaskan NCO (1969) and had a rolling vacation across the West on his return. A few post above this one is the details of him driving to Louisiana in early June to purchase a 1969 10' Alaskan NCO..... All of this to say, we know have a total of (3) vintage Alaskan Campers to occupy our time & energy.
Maybe, a bit out of control - But, Fun!
My 1968 Project (8' NCO), still awaiting foam insulation:

Let the process begin....
The Chaos is about to begin as we retrofit the two 8' models in parallel. Example: If we're going to replace the floor in one, we might as well do both.

I love that era Dodge. I have a 65. Great trucks.. Sorry for the hi-jack
