Well Expo members, I hang my head in shame.
Here is a link to my 1978 Chev Scottsdale 4x4W/wDuallies Utility bed and '90 Amerigo SnapNGo Camper$ 3,800
Well, what can I say, I misfired on this one. I bought it early in the summer and as I have a Sprinter van with a day camper build that drives so well and more imagination than actual time for projects, the family did not use this one and we just cleaned it up a bit. Moreover, since I am ordering a new Sprinter 4X4, by my calculations most of the perceived advantages ( I sought out a 4X4 large enough for the family of 5) will cover us for winter driving in the mountains and summer driving onto the Oregon beaches.
Within the last 10,000 miles, this has a new 454 crate motor and a rebuilt 350 transmission. There is a new radiator and 6 tires, and the engine roars. The 4X4 is a conversion using a Danah front axle.
The Amerigo Snap and Go camper has two large beds with a tremendous amount of headroom. The rear of the camper ( door on side) is hinged on the top, the bottom pulls out 4 feet allowing a second bed / berth at the back, very cool. The roof has 4 solar panels, there are 4 deep cycle house batteries, batteries the fridge appears to be new, so is the hot water heater, there is a roof top AC, two propane tanks etc. The previous owner who's daughter sold this after his passing kept fastidious records and all documentation is available. I can supply copies of the docs but have not driven it enough to be able to answer many questions. I will take some more pics and PDF a copy of most docs next week which I will be able to e-mail out.
There is dry rot which is going to require time to repair, I can't tell if the brakes are soft or is that just simply the difference between what I drove as a kid ( 76 C 30moving cattle ) and my contemporary Sprinter that simply feels so much safer with the kids strapped in. The camper is bolted to the utility bed and I thought about creating a pass through large enough to get from front to back but after driving this a couple of times and thinking about the security of my young children, I just decided to pass it on and it has gone from great project to something that calls to me to look another direction when I get home. If you are interested and are in the area, feel free to make me an offer. I am confident that this is a reasonable deal but I am simply not the guy for it, thanks. Thanks Mike, I just got back from Asia again and am not going to waste your time with show and tell because, well, the beast and I are simply not going to bond.
I would be open to trade for an enduro bike / small boat, powered paraglider trike or a couple of cheeseburgers if you catch me at the right time.
I posted it on Craigslist, there are pictures and a description here http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/rvs/4682988344.html
