More updates... progress on the box that will house the Alpine head unit and the switches. Designed to mimic as best as possible the original Smith heater unit.

Panels going in now to cover the National Luna Solenoid, more panels will cover the fuses and other wiring. Love the bomb proof seat belt anchors my shop fabricated for me.

This is admittedly overkill, but figured so long as I was installing an Alpine rear HD camera why not do one upfront. Will be aimed down a bit at the terrain.

Locker box on the front fender. Designed for the air filter on the Defender wing. Using it on the Lightweight and will have the air compressor connections underneath that are tied into the under seat ARB dual compressor.

Wing mounted radio box for a Lightweight. Will use it to look both authentic and to hold the CB antenna...

Last but not least, an updated shot of the build so far. Next week the new rims and tires go on and the rims will be painted the final tan color I’ve chosen for the body.

New Michelin XZL tires and rims are on. Rims are painted in my desired body color. They look more yellow in the photo than in person, but are actually a very light tan or limestone color.IMG_2365.jpeg

Battery placement on both sides of the wheel wells - will have boxes fabbed to cover them that will look like Land Rover Lightweight rear arch toolboxes.

Can also see the rear filler for the third fuel tank we installed under the rear tub.

Impressive build !
Thanks! It’s at the two year mark partly because I keep expanding the scope of the build and partly because I’m not in a rush so the shop has other builds (mostly classic cars ‘20s-‘50s) that keep jumping ahead of me. I’m fine with that because it expands my time to cover the cost of all of this and the slow pace isn’t any more expensive.
