The vinyl and foam on the drivers seat is shot. The passenger seat is perfect. Since it's a bench seat, they'll have to rip both out or leave a seem somewhere.

Ah shucks. Well whatever you do don't swap in Chevy s-10 seats; too many beautiful automotive thrones have been lost to those hahaha

I'll try to have the original vinyl matched. either that or a waxed cotton perhaps.

heres the bumpers i've narrowed in on for modding to the fit the 720

based on some math, the front bumpers are 6 inches deep and are 3 inches thick, this means that the bumper has around 3 inches of cant at the ends. I think i can live with that. width wise they are just about perfect. my bumper measured 63 inches front and rear with the front rampage bumper being 64 and the rear 62. modding and powder coating will be less than half of what i got quoted.

I feel like i have a pretty good idea of what to do with the bumpers and am no switching my focus to the canopy. Want to have something that i can use to haul lumber but also for short trips and keeping stuff relatively dry. Similar to a http://www.softopper.com/ but more sturdy. Does any one have experience building this canopies/canvas?

This guy completely re-did his bed into a 'Trayback', but added a rack & canopy (the canopy is a recollection ... forgive me if it's actually an embellishment, it's been a while since I read that thread).

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/65630-2006-Tacoma-tray-back-100K-mile-re-do ... I think it's a bit farther than you may want to go with yours (and a bit farther than you *I* would go, given the condition your truck is in); but it may give you some more ideas to noodle on.

The other thing you could do, since you're already talking to an upholstery shop, is have them just make some snap-on panels to close out a contractor rack ... assuming you can find a contractor rack to fit the 720. Might be tough to make it fully waterproof, but I bet they could get close ... and it'd be unique!

...or you could look for a used Can-Back. They have stout frames that can accept rack bars.

I bet their compact truck 6' size would fit. I imagine the earlier Toyota Truck beds have about the same dimensions.

It looks like they're in a manufacturing hiatus while they get retooled, but there should be some used ones floating around.

Using Rampage Bumpers on a 720

so i ordered rampage tubular front and rear bumpers http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EBMCQ0/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CQP1FG/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. combined the order was 290 with tax. A shop will mount the set up lights for 200. Powder coating will be another 150. all in ill have the bumpers for 640 or roughly half of what getting them custom made. the fit wont be perfect. but i can live with it.

Aren't the Rampage bumpers already powder coated or is that for custom mounting brackets? If so, maybe you just rattle can the brackets and save some coin.

Cheers

Your build is coming out rad Foster! Stoked to see how the bed comes out, and man I wish we could have 70 series LCs in the US.
