Killer truck! I think I might have seen this one listed before you bought it. Only remember it because it was so clean. I am in Oly with a 95 hardbody 4x4.
So i found an 80$ canopy and threw an elevated platform together and headed out for a few days with the GF. It got the creative juices flowing and made me think about what i wanted/need in a camper. The funny thing is, is that i had just as much fun in this 1500$ truck off craigslist and the 80% canopy with a matress and cook stove as i did in my 80K Tacoma flatbed camper.
Here are a few photos.
I'm back on Craigslist looking for a contractor canopy with fold up sides. Going to look at one this week.
Went back on Craigslist and picked this up for 260$.
It's a gem top from a ford ranger long bed with windows and flip up sides.
It's not a perfect fit but it's pretty darn close and light. It's no problem to get on and off with two people.
There's a slight gap up front and a little rust starting in the bulk head. I'm debating between laying down a1x2 piece of steel or extending the camper out with some marine ply. Maybe I could weld an extension on to it too.
The other option is to build a role bar for it. And mount it between the camper and the cAb.
I think the roll bar would be a easy on the eyes fix. If the bar went sightly above the camper it could be functional for supporting lumber. Plus i think it would fit the era pretty good.
Been silently following along with this thread, but after seeing that last photo, I realized I had watched a video about your treehouse, and figured it was as good a time as any to pop in and say that both your truck and the treehouse look fantastic!
