had me scratching my head as well when I read it, of course with the way things are going some great deals out there ...but?

The way that guy mixes up digits, it's possible he only spent $125 on the drive train recently.

For anyone that may be interested. The rig belonged to his father since 12k miles, kept under cover, he is 62. All records for work done in that time period. He needs the funds for completing a boat project in Pt. Townsend. I was all over it at 2395$, that extra digit sure changed the fantasy though. He has a standing offer of 17k$ at the moment. Nice guy and sounds like a sweet rig.

My sister and ex-brother in law had one. Cute thing, but top heavy, and since they never upgraded the original engineering, they had constant battles with the rear axles and brakes. This site has more info on how to fix that, if you rummage around in there: http://www.toyotamotorhomes.com/

I see 2wd Toyota campers (with low miles) for under 4k all the time. I wonder if you can do a sas on one. If you can I would think that you would still come in at under 15k.

Have done quite a bit of research to change a Toyota Chinook into a 4x4. It has been done but takes a lot of work. You have to do custom fab on the sas and then deal with the transfer case (which wouldnt be that hard). It can be done but be ready for a pretty big project. There is one up here in the northwest that I drool over weekly. Check it out http://www.toyotamotorhomes.com/nolan's_76_chinook.htm

I have often though about doing what he did and chopping the frame behind the cab and mating it to the front end of a solid axle yota. Preferably an 85 with efi? :)

I can't get the same thoughts out of my head (buying cheap 85+ 2wd toy MH, converting to SAS and 4wd). With all the custom fab going on with Toys nowadays, couldn't be too difficult, and cheaper than buying one of these they think is gold plated or something.
