1986 Toyota 4x4 Beginning of an expedition build.

Hello Expedition Portal. As I am brand new on this site I figured I'd upload a few start up pictures of my truck. Being an avid outdoorsman/camper, I feel that the best route for my truck is going expedition style. Keeping my truck in great shape is also a reason ill be going this route. Unfortunately I dont have any pictures of the truck when I first got it but it was grey with those lovely stock graphics down the side with no real modifications. A few years later and here I am starting to actually put things together. Let me know what you think.

-31x10.5x15 Mud terrains
-Custom storage box behind seats
-Fabtech spare tire carrier
-Light bar/headache rack
-Kobalt tool box
-Upgraded stereo system
-Custom front bumper
-Cobra CB radio
-Custom cargo rack/roof top tent platform in bed

Plans:
-Rock sliders
-onboard air
-Power inverter
-Jerry can mount
-onboard water for shower
-Custom rear bumper with swing out tire carrier
-GPS with HP notebook and mount
-Roof rack with lighting
-Shift boots, new shifter knobs
-Lockers
-SAS vs IFS debate.... long going thought process for the ideal setup of this truck.

These are just a few of the plans off of the top of my head. Thanks for looking.

Its a nice and clean truck you've got there! Good to see some Trucks/Hiluxes inbetween all the Tacos.

If you shold SAS or not depends on where and on which surfaces you're planning to drive on, how much money you want to put in and if you want or need reability. The stiff axel works great in the rocky and muddy terrains, while the IFS is just best for the on-road (as I guess you know).

The comfort on road is the most important for me as of now. No chrushed drive axels, no fear of cracked diff house or 3rd member - nothing. Just counting kms. In time it will get an axel swap as i'm planning a trip down Europe, through nothern Africa and up eastern Europe and to do that I need reability. If a leef cracks - no problem! "Get the blanket sailor and lay between the frame and axel".
Also there is _a lot_ of spare parts, upgrades and so on for the stiff axel. Marlin Crawler, All-pro, Trial-gear, Low Range Offroad, Longfield superaxels, Sky manufacturing etc etc. + the ability to have a Toyota E-locker (n/a for 7,5" IFS diffs)
