For sale is my 1987 Suzuki Samurai tin top. The vehicle is in good shape and runs great; it's my daily driver. It has 47,xxx miles on it. It's only a 5 digit odometer so this could be 147k, but considering the good condition of the body and chassis, I certainly don't believe it to be 247k. I'm running the stock 1.3 motor with a Weber carb. The engine has a new head gasket (blew it a while back, but no damage was done, head and block are still straight), new radiator, water pump, and heater core. The transfer case is running Low Range Off-road's 4.9-1 gearset and is mounted using their heavy-duty transfer case cradle. The tires are 31” Treadwright retreads with their MTR tread pattern, and they work great on road or off. The rig has the Rocky Road Jeep-eater YJ spring conversion, which gives about 2.5 inches of lift. I kept it spring under the axle to maintain safe road manners. The gas tank is protected with a Shrockworks gas tank skid plate, the front bumper is a ZOR winch ready center section with bolt on headlight hoops. The rear is a self-made steel tube with swing-out tire carrier and integrated LED turn and tail lights, as well as implement lights for the back-up light.
The interior is in good shape, with aluminum diamond-plate panels all around. It has carpet inside; it's a little worn in the driver footwell, but easily replaced. Also, the headliner is missing on the forward section of the ceiling, but also easily replaced. It has the fold-up rear bench seat, and both front seats are nice comfy ones out of a Buick. Also, there's a problem with the temp guage in the dash cluster, it just goes to full hot. I have a mechanical guage installed to watch the coolant, just never got around to replacing the dash cluster.
It is a solid little rig that is a great daily driver, gets 25 mpg down the highway, and will still crawl right over most anything you point it at. I've done several trips from Astoria to northern Idaho and back with no problems; you just can't be in a tremendous hurry, but if you're looking for a Sammy then you already know they're not hot rods.
The title is a salvage title. As you can see from the picture, the left rear panel is new. A driver made a left turn in front of me last summer, and I clipped them. The only damage was a bent left front leaf spring (fixed with the YJ kit) and a dent to the left rear panel (hence the new panel). After crunching the numbers the insurance company decided to go ahead and total it.
I built this Samurai with the intention of taking a longer trip in relative comfort and still do well off-road, and it has never failed me. I'm selling because I need a rig that can tow and has a bit more interior space. I'm asking $3900, but if you are interested and have a Land Rover Discovery Series 1 that you'd like to work a trade with, I'm listening. A Disco 1 will be what I look for once the Sammy sells.
