1989 FJ62 SoCal

it does look nice, 2 questions, why if it's for sale in Los Angeles does it have Minnesota plates, and is it really "rare"?

I don't know my Land Cruisers, I live the looks of them, I know what I've read here on the Portal about them but how rare is this one? The seller claims it is.

Good Q's for the seller, if anyone is that interested. I have not seen one this clean in awhile. If someone decides to chase this, let us know what the story is.

While its rare(er?) to find one that clean, its not impossible. Other than that the FJ62 is pretty common, built for 3 years in pretty large quantities. They are pretty stalwart therefore even after 20 years there are still quite a few on the road.

I don't think Minnesota is considered a rust free state. Passenger front fender in front and above wheel paint looks "wavy dull"? Other than that it does look good.

I've had two FJ62s prior to my FJ60. Both of my 62s were from Seattle area and both had rust in the quarters. Yeah, Minnesota is anything but a rust free state. I'd be taking a hard look at those quarters for rust. Looks nice though. Really clean inside.

One reason why the vehicle may still have MN plates is that it
failed to pass the CA smog test. If you're interested in purchasing
this vehicle, which does look nice in the photos, be sure to have
them pass a CA smog test before you take delivery. The smog
test is not expensive. Tell the owner that you'll split the cost.

I think by law it has to be provided by the seller. I know it doees not always work that way in reality, but it's supposed to.

CA law is that the seller is supposed to provide a smog certificate. I think it has to be within 90 days of the sale.
