I don't know....for that kind of cash I would rather try to do it myself and fail.
Motor plus tranny in good condition plus import fees....$10k to my door, possibly less. Actual cost for me to install myself, maybe $5k in misc stuff. So for $15k plus a $2-3k Cruiser it could be a done deal. Let's say $20k is a fair number if you do it yourself. That leaves a whole bunch of cash for things like lift, ect ect. Not to mention enough cash left over to hit the road for a year or more!
Trust me I am well aware of what a quality shop charges for mods. At $60-100/hr. it adds up fast too. I have also spent tens of thousands to have a shop do things for me. Thing is, in the last few years I have really come to realize it is money much better spent if I do the work myself. Granted I don't have a machine shop but I can tear a motor down and send it to a machine shop. Not only will you save huge piles of money doing these things yourself you learn from it. You also gain the great feeling that comes from a job well done. Plus you know the engine and or truck inside and out to the point that you can fix just about anything yourself. In the bush or if traveling far into other countries that is worth more then anything else for piece of mind. Not to mention when you know how to work on it yourself you can help others while you travel which is also a rewarding feeling/experience. If I was made of money I would pay somebody to do it all, maybe. Thing is I have done that and then hit the road in Latin America, I don't like the feeling of wondering what is up with my truck. I like to know what is up with my truck. The only way I can feel that I know my truck inside and out is to do the work myself. Think about it...what is better; paying somebody to do this for you and then 500 miles into Baja you have some dramas. You have no cell service or a way to contact the builder for help trouble shooting and fixing the problem. Sure you may be able to find some roadside mechanic to help you fix it but also maybe not. On the other hand, you did it yourself; a problem arises and you simply get out the tools, crack a beer and fix it.
I like the OD green a lot too. But it would be a very poor color choice for travels south of the border.
