1996 Lada Niva

This is my buddy's new bush truck.

1996 Lada Niva with only 86,000km's on it.

Got it for a bottle of wine.

We thought that a custom paint job would look good, plus we added some domestic stickers and graphics.

As we would be thrashing this little beast, we welded up a new front brush guard...not exactly an ARB, but very strong and functional.

We decided to go "generic" on the star as it could either be a Russian or North Korean ride, then added a set of KM2's for a little added traction.

The little beast has been named...Dirka-Stan.

Sweet! That brings back memories. I considered buying a new Niva "Cossack" Edition back in 1996 for 10k. At the time there were a couple dealers here in Edmonton. They would come over on the ship (fully rust-proofed, so they said) and final assembled when they landed in Canada (Nova Scotia, IIRC). I haven't seen one in years, and 1996 wasn't that long ago. Oh, and I'm sure by now you have discovered where they put the spare tire ;)

These were sold in Canada?! That's awesome! I've never seen one in ontario. Saw one when in Germany and loved it. Just so simple it looks you can fix anything on it with nothing but an adjustable wrench.
