$4500 obo

Up for sale is the Silver Bullet, my 97 f-150 4x4. Its Silver with grey interior, super cab with 6.5 foot short bed. I'm the second owner, my parents practically threw it at me when I my arm healed enough for me to drive again and I mentioned getting a scooter. Unfortunately, I don't make enough cash to afford to get out of the city and to the woods with it. She's been a good truck and I wouldn't hesitate to hit the road on a long trip in it. The most "off-road" its been is on various Forest Service and BLM roads.

Its about ready to hit the 188K mile mark.

Supercab w/ 3rd door
4.6l V8
Automatic
4wd Manual shift, not dash switch
Tow Package
Air Conditioning
Power Windows/Locks
AM/FM Cassette
Rhino Lined bed
7 way trailer plug
locking gas cap to keep thieving jerks out
Oversized tires Yokohama Geolander AT-S (245/75R16's) with 7/16" tread left

Included are a locking truck box, draw bar and ball, 7 to 4 wire trailer adaptor, 1 pair of chains, and a Chilton's manual. I've also got a Tracone rack that can go with it for an extra $200. It's rated to 800lbs and would be perfect for mounting a RTT and is great for hauling canoes or kayaks.

Recent-ish maintenance: I did a complete fluid change at 177K along with fuel and air filters. 178K New battery. 181K Right rear wheel cylinder. 186K Water pump, coolant, serpentine belt, idler pulley, and oil.

Issues. Slow oil leak that I can't find near the front of the engine, less than a quart every 4 - 6K miles. Turn Signal switch needs to be replaced, left turn works intermittently, and I haven't found a replacement for it yet. Small dent in the tailgate, I found the only Juniper with in a few hundred yards on my last trip to Utah, grrr. A small dent above the front passenger wheel well that my dad acquired at some point.

I'm looking for a more fuel efficient 4wd rig, so if someone has a Toyota Tercel or Honda Civic 4wd wagon or a 4cyl Isuzu Trooper and is willing to throw some cash on top, we could work out a trade.

I'm kind of lukewarm on a diesel truck at the moment, I know if I were hauling a lot of stuff, I'd be all over it, but I hardly haul anything approaching a full load on this truck as it is. My old 4wd tercel got mileage in the high 20s to low 30s which would cut my fuel costs by more than half and even a 4cyl trooper (I've heard they get about 20mpg) would cut it by more than 25%. Granted a diesel truck would still be cheaper to operate than a gas truck, but it would have to be the right truck (cummins fits part of that category) for me to consider a diesel.
