Update? You've come too far to stop!:victory:

Haha I know. The camper has been at a friends house in storage. I plan on bringing it home this week to continue working on it. I have to say that I really love the way the 4runner rides with out it though! That extra 200lbs and height really makes a big difference.

I think mine Rides pretty rough without the topper. But then again the back half is completely stripped, spare tire removed. So there's not much weight back there. With the topper it's real niiiice.

Definitely a stiffer ride with out the top on, stock or flip-pac. Like anything with older cars, you get used to it. HA. I love the way the 4runner takes bumps with the flip-pac and the zuk coils in the rear. It just is a leaner with the flip-pac and blazeland suspension on the IFS. Handles amazingly with the stock top on.

Sooooooo I have been tossing around the idea to sell this unfinished project. Just the Flip-pac part, for now. I had some issues with the resin/fiberglass filler not ever setting up in the areas on the sides. It was off gassing so I sanded all the bondo and fiberglass off the driver side. I then cut out and dug out all the filler. Thats as far as I had got before I decided that I wanted to spend more of my free time camping along with other activities. The camper has been sitting in my driveway for a few months now. The ol' lady and I have been talking about a having a kid in the near future and the 1st gen 4runner might also have to go. Not the safest choice for transporting a new born. Anyways, I'm not set on giving up on this project quite yet but if some one here on the forum is some what local and is interested I would be into handing it off for decent price. You can pm me or send a email to me via jayredwood(at)gmail.com. Email is the best way to get a hold of me.
I can send pictures to help clarify anything as well.

Thanks

If you only knew...over the past 12 months I've seen some very interesting choices for transporting newborns. In regards to safety, a 1st gen 4Runner is like a Volvo down here!

Just promise not to judge us when we have a kiddo (or two) and drag them across the globe in a 1G 4R :sombrero:

I would never judge. :)
I have been thinking about having a friend fab up a good spot for a kid to sit in the rear. My other dilema is the 2 dogs and then the rest of the gear...
We will see.

Haha, us too! We have THREE dogs and we've pretty much decided to never leave on a trip without em again.

Solution: Just bring less stuff!

I just reread this entire thread. Good times. While I want to see you finish the flip pac, I also understand the need to move on. Hopefully your project finds its way into the hands of another enthusiast who decides to document their progress here on the portal.

Not sure if it was the thought of adding an auto loan onto my enormous student loan debt, or showing potential buyers the 4runner, but I'm gona hold onto her. Finishing her up will be the right thing to do. Sorry to be so back and forth. Ha
