My write up will not compare to Longrange308's (Great Read)
A buddy and i ran the mojave Road west to east in our FJ's last weekend. The adventure began Saturday morning with a straightforward drive from the Monterey bay with a stop over in Barstow for quick lunch and then the trip really started.
We began the road at the Yermo Rd entrance to Manix Wash where a CHP officer noticed us from the freeway while we were airing down and stopped because he thought we had broke down. We had a nice chat with him and off we went. Manix was allot of fun to bomb through and We stopped to check out the triangles along manix and then off to Afton campground for a windy first night.

We started or second day around 9am on sunday hit the water crossings and stopped to check out Prospect mine just outside of Afton canyon cool place with allot of very well built stone walls lots of man hours...Cool place. Soda lake was uneventful thought it might be an issue with the rain from Saturday morning but was a non issue dry as a bone. Passed a fellow FJ from canada( Who was in a rush lol) and then 2 2nd gen 4Runners on our way to our next stop the Lava tubes which were spectacular i had no idea there were so many active volcano's in the area at one point in time. After that we hit the mailbox Singed the log book, left my mark with a screaming hand sticker and laughed at some of the junk in the box then it was on to the Whoop De Do's or what i called the Mojave Roller Coaster (probably not the first) and on to Government Holes and a spectacular view of the New York Mountains and checked out Bert smiths Rock house and settled down for much less hostile night at Pleasant View (Name could not describe it better) with multiple visits from the friendly field mice.

Monday morning Was a beautiful start to our 3rd and last day with a nice leisurely drive started around 10:30 with stops at the other rock house,School Bus,Penny Cans and a look at the Nevada Southern Railroad plaque. The Joshua tree's offered some great views.
We continued on and checked out Fort Piute.....Cool to see such a lush green oasis tucked away in the desert. In between there and 95 we stopped and talked to a few jeep guys who had setup camp in a wash who were just beginning their trip, Great guys (If your on here it was great to meet you and talk) Then it was off to the Colorado with some fun times surfing down the mountains with some speed to the valley below Finally ending at the Colorado.

All in all it was an epic trip and have plans to do it again next year and see a couple more sights along the way. We loved doing the west to east route...Much more epic to end at the Colorado than Barstow LOL.

Very nice.. One place I really wanted to stop was the lava tubes, but weather and time just did not permit. If I could dedicate a week to the next trip, I still dont think I would see everything I would want to.

Thanks for the compliments on my writeup as well!
