First snow of the season.

Light dusting of graupel couple days ago, followed by 1/4" of snow and 1/4" ice two days later. Time go explore some dirt roads!

Stay tuned for more shenanigans!

dirtdobberoffroad,

Looks like you got way more in Missouri than I did in Maine. But than again last February Las Vegas strip got more snow than Maine. So much for that global warming.

I wanted to show you my rig that was directly inspired by your rig plus a few others on the net. Would have never thought i would have stuffed 35s on her if it wasnt for your 37s. It's more of long distance travel/camper rig vs your off road family adventure mobile. I have a small faucet and water tank inside with an elevated bed in the rear of the truck. Been beating on it for the last 3 months around CO/UT and its held up to the abuse, fully loaded too.

Specs are
2005 Tahoe 5.3
35" Patagonias MTs
17" alum wheels (super light for size)
4.10 gears with aftermarket torsen rear diff
Aftermarket tranny cooler

Major hiccups so far have been the 4l60e crapped out on me in Price UT. Planetary gearset inside exploded/got ground down, no gears whatsoever.
Waterpump gaskets started to leak, new gaskets put in roadside.
Alternator died, new 160A unit put in.

Couldn't not post my creation up on your thread, your rig is boss and i'm always looking forward to more shenanigans.

Did you do a body lift as well, or what did you do for suspension?

Its posts like this that make me second guess wanting to move into a LR3 or LC100. These trucks just WORK plain and simple.

hillslayer12,

Your truck looks fantastic. Tahoe with 35s is very proportional and 4.10s will get you just about anywhere you will ever dare take it. Have more than enough room on the roof and in the box to keep the inside clear fro the bed.

I am glad I was able to inspire you to build a relatively low budget truck that get you where you want to go and leaves cash in your pocket for the actual adventures.

Are you running a load warrior and a Thule Fronteer on the roof? That's a wide setup!

Post more pictures, I want to see more.

3” body
5100 billsteins

Really happy with the stance of the 3” body, functional and not too over the top. My blackout stealth theme was what I was going for and I’m happy with how it turned out.

Yea for sure, i was considering the LC100 back before i bought this truck but ultimately landed on the Chevy because of its super cheap price point and i don't feel bad charging through thickett or wailing on it because it was in good condish at best when i bought it. Theres freedom in it.

Looks great how's the 35's and 410's?......I would say you like the green 02Tahoe....and Drei's...

Gearing and tire size i'm happy with...the 17" wheels are:
procomp series 69
9" wide ... 24lbs per wheel (nice n lite)
No spacers
Rear wheels rub on inner wheel whell cover at full squish, doesnt bother me.
I did cut and hammer front wheel well, didnt crank the T-bars too excessively wanted to keep my cvs straight.
Paired with the patagonias i was able to find a wheel tire combo that i theorize helps the MPG!

dirtdobberoffroad - you nailed it, TahoeMD and Drei were direct inspirations for the build.

Thanks for the kind words! Ive done some fully loaded rock crawling with it that was super sketch, but she survived the abuse (or maybe thats why my tranny went out? insert confused emoji here)

Up top is a Thule, not sure of the model, I spray painted it black to match and accented the plastic rivets i think they are, red. I originally had two enclosed carriers up top but they werent going to cut it with all the misc. camping parafanalia i needed to store up there. So i scored a yakima MEGA warrior on CL for $100 and bought the extension to bring the total length of the roof cage to i believe 74 inches. I havent fully utilized all of the real estate the mega warrior has to offer but im planning on getting some plastic containers up there to keep high volume low weight sporting equipment.

I’m new to posting on the forum and I’m having some technical difficulties getting the photos to post but I will post them up once I figure it out.

Pics look great.

Key for our trucks off road when the going gets tough is 4x4 low and 1st gear, do not use any other gears, that will prolong the life of the tranny. Also check to see if you have the factory tranny cooler, that helps a lot.
