We have decided to sell our much-loved Sportsmobile. As we near empty-nest status we are looking to downsize to a truck with a slide in camper. It’s been a reliable, capable and awesome adventure-van for the three years we’ve owned it.

Details:

  • 2001 e250 extended body. 5.4L V8 w/ 198,500 miles. Drives great. I just returned from an 800 mile trip that included dirt roads as well as I-40 at 75mph. No issues.
  • Agile Off Road 4x4 conversion. 08/2013. Push button electric switch between Hi and Low range, locking Warn hubs, limited slip rear differential, Fox 2.0 front/rear shocks, etc.
  • Walk-Thru Design w/ Gaucho. Sleeps 4 (snugly), seatbelts for 6 (four across Gaucho!). We’ve fit lots of bikes in the back of the van when necessary.
  • Regular oil changes performed @ 3,000-4,000 mile intervals since I owned it.
  • Roof Re-sealed, new gasket and gel-coated and epoxied 3/24 (last week).
  • All propane lines and fittings just replaced last week. Propane tank mounted underneath van powers the furnace, indoor stove and fitting for outdoor stove.
  • Fridge Replaced 5/22.
  • 5 new BF Goodrich T/A KO2 tires installed @190,000 miles (2023); (all 4 plus spare)
  • Other Maintenance: Transfer case re-sealed 5/21 at 180,000 miles. Radiator replaced @ 136,232 miles; new rear brake rotors, calipers, pads @165,612 miles (2018); new ball joints, repacked wheel bearings, replaced a defective shock, and alignment done @166,200 miles (2018); new front ABS sensors, bearings, brake rotors, calipers and pads and alignment done @176,614 (2021); Transmission, power steering, and coolant fluids replaced along with starting battery and plugs/wires 11/2020
  • Solar with 2 house batteries.
  • Viper alarm system with keyless entry
  • StarCool System (works)
  • Both Front seats swivel (though driver-side goes just past 90 degrees)
  • Onan Generator (does not currently work, though it’ll turn-over)
  • Kenwood touchscreen HD stereo receiver with Bluetooth/Apple Carplay/Android Auto/Sirius XM/Spotify/Pandora
  • Back Up Camera (though it goes on/off intermittingly)
  • Power windows/mirrors/door locks (kinda weird)
  • Shore Power Connection
  • Fiamma Awning
  • 6 gal (I think?) Gray water tank
  • Door Talon
  • Cruise control
  • Locking gas cap
  • Rear Class IV hitch receiver with brake controller
  • Full size matching spare mounted on Aluminess driver's side rear swing arm carrier
  • Aluminess Ladder
  • Thule tracks/towers/crossbars on roof with Yakima cargo box
  • (stain in pop-top cavans is not wet. Pictures were taken during a 2 day storm and it's dry as a bone. Roof was re-sealed to address a leak that developed this winter. Still stained)
This van has so many bells and whistles and cool options. It’s been super reliable with a capable 4x4, it could be the right van for someone. But, she’s no garage-queen. Lots of little dings and dents. Some other little weird nuisances typical for a 22year old adventure van.

Van is located in Durango CO

Price is $44,500 obo.

Like your van! Own a similar one so not in the market. Was wondering about your bike rack setup. Is the vertical setup functional? Do the front tires rub at all on the windows? Currently have swing out 2 tray setup and need to expand bike capacity. Any input greatly appreciated. GLWS! Thanks

Hey there, it works pretty good. With the North Shore rack you can make the rack either straight vertical or tilt it back a bit. Even in the full vertical position the 29er wheels do not hit the glass. But, 2 (of the 6) positions interfere with the spare tire. I’ve addressed that by just taking the front wheels off on those 2 bikes which works fine too. I think with the rack tilted back they’d probably miss the tire, but because we usually only carry 3-4 bikes anyway, it hasn’t been an issue.

Bump! Desert adventure season is here!

I'm not really ready to move on from my truck but I do love dreaming of one day having a nice SMB. Nice rig.
Question, do you remember what table is that you have in the outdoor (red cliffs in the foreground) photo? It's on the passenger side near the rear of the van. I wasn't sure if you bought at a local store or it's an Amazon type purchase.

Nice van, and GLWS!

Quick follow up q- any issues with what looks like a hitch extender + swing arm + bike rack? I'm needing to do something similar to carry 4 bikes on my e350 van ...I've done the weight math and it checks out...but I haven't seen one in real life so not sure how well the systems works to swing away and still be able to open the doors and access the back.

If you want to move to DM to avoid chatting in your sale thread, no worries! (But figured others might want to see the answer too!)

I pulled this listing down last April from Markeptplace/CL because I decided to use it for the summer.

It’s back up for sale and priced to sell at $38,500!

Brand new brakes! Front and rear. Now 200,700 miles.
