2001 tacoma small problem

when i start up my 2001 tacoma 5spd
there's a loud whinning noise for about 2 or three seconds then it goes away . doesn't happen all the time
not sure if its the belts or bearings
anyone else experience this problem

sounds an aweful lot like a belt... go get a carwash and powerwas the engine bay, if it whines longer than after a normal start then belt is likely the problem

Take a video of it and post it.

Sounds like a belt, I think my 4Runner does that now for about 15 seconds or so, almost like the belt has to warm up or something.

Now if it's a loud screeching then likely a belt again, they aren't hard to replace and yes do all 3 at the same time they are a bit of a pain in the rear to doubt doable for a home mechanic.

Sounds very much like a loose belt. A little extra tension should take care of that. (Post a video if you can to make sure that's it)

My 3.4L Taco did this over the winter. I tightened up the belts and the problem went away.
