2003 100 Series build - my first Cruiser

We traded our '11 Rubicon in on a new diesel truck and then bought a 100 series with the cash from selling the old truck. I have to say, going from a 3 year old JK to a 15 year old 100 reminded me why I've always been a Land Cruiser fan. The Toyota drove better with 180,000 on it than the Jeep did with 40,000! There is no comparison in quality. The Jeep was great and took us many great places, but it isn't in the same league as the 100.

On the subject of tires, I am also a huge fan of the ST Maxx. I will be putting them on the 100 very soon. They have performed amazingly well on the 3500 I have which is usually loaded up to around 12,000 lbs. I can imagine how great they will be on the 100.
I occasionally look at other brands and treads, but I think if you've found something you like and know works for you (like we both have with the ST Maxx), you would be foolish to not stick with it. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Couldn't agree more! I needed a more comfortable and spacious rig that could take me everywhere my JKU did which is exactly why I went with the 100.

Glad to hear that you like the ST Maxx as well. Such a great tire and will mostly likely be what I put on the Cruiser. What size tire are you looking at? Seems that the consensus is that a 275/70/18 is what most people run on a 100 that has a slight lift.

First mod done by me:

Ordered a set of the Specter Off Road Tuff Duck Slip Covers in brown for my front and second row seats. The stitching in the leather on the front seats is starting to come undone and I'd rather invest in a nice set of covers rather than having them repaired by an upholster.

I've decided to keep my existing tires (Nitto Terra Grappler G2) for the time being as I'd rather tackle other things like my timing belt and then sliders. I'll be removing the running boards and give the Cruiser a full detail this weekend as well.

Pics to follow.

Removed the running boards, 3rd row seats and did a full detail this morning. I think it looks pretty good for a 14 year old truck! My seat covers should be coming in this week and I'll also be installing a CB. Stay tuned!

I saw that you are keeping your Nittos for now, but I will answer your question on tire size anyway. I have 16" wheels so I am running 285/75-16s. Which is a 33x10.50 equivalent. I may go to a 255/85-16 which is more like a 33.5x9.5 and the truck came originally with 305/70-16 which is a 33x12.50. I could probably go a bit bigger, but I don't think there are too many places I will ever need to go that I can't handle with the OME and 33" tire combo.

SOR seat covers are on. The fit is great and they're brown but look black in the picture. Highly recommend these!

Got some new tires the other day and went with the Cooper ST Maxx in 275/70/18. I had these on my JKU and absolutely loved them.

Another welcome from local Hundy owner! Here's mine on the way to 100sinthehills back in July:

Great looking rig! I'd love to go to HIH someday. Are you going to be at VOR?

We will be there. And I think I saw @cboyd's name on the reg list. So that's at least 3x100s at VOR!

Leaving tomorrow after work, come say hello.

Yes, I'll be there!

There are two other 100s coming in convoy from the northshore that I'm aware of.

Maybe we need to stake out Hundy-town!
