2004 Disco African Outback Drawer Installation

Has anyone had any experience with this installation? If so, can you provide any advice in regard to things I should "watch out" for? Is the install easy, moderate, or difficult? Are there any special tools required? I have rear AC on the drivers side and the storage bin on the passenger side. Can both of these remain in place with the installation of the system? Will I need to modify or cut anything if I want these to both remain?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinkig that these storage drawers were the best in town. I am really surprised that nobody has any experience installing these. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Slee Off-Road has them right now for $1245. I think that is a mark down from $1400. I jumped on it after thinking through the cost of materials, time for construction, and untold erturns and trips to Home Depot.

These are supposed to be the best out there.....I will let you know.

I've done the installation in a couple of D1s. It's pretty straightforward. The bolts and brackets are all color coded, so easy to identify, and the install uses existing bolt holes. You may have to make a couple of small slits to the carpet in the rear cargo area, depending if your vehicle was outfitted with cargo tie downs.

You might have to customize the side "wings" a bit to get them to fit around the rear AC (I had to do some trimming for the rear AC on my D1).

When installing, the most irritating thing for me was fastening the top lid on the drawers. If you put too much pressure on the captive nuts, they can pop off and fall into the drawer area. Then you'll have to remove the top to get to the nut and start over again.
