2004 Land Rover Discovery- Expo Ready, Proper Rover...

Well after the addition of a diesel pickup in the driveway last month, my wife has given me the marching orders… one must go. Certainly my GS is staying so the Land Rover is up on the block.

A little backstory. I purchased the vehicle from a guy in Texas in July of 2012. He listed it as immaculate with 113,500 miles on it. I bought it and arranged delivery to Albuquerque a couple weeks later. He was right, it was pristine, easily the best taken care of D2 I had ever seen. Little did I know there was a ticking time bomb under the hood. 9 miles later the engine detonated. Slipped a liner and took the block with it. Wonderful. So I did my research and spared no expense in the replacement motor for this vehicle to the tune of $10k. Fast forward to now- I have owned this rover for almost 18 months and done everything I can do to it to make it absolutely expo reliable. I have had a blast building it but I have to be honest with myself about this vehicle: It has always been an extra vehicle for us and I have put just over 4000 miles on it since I bought it. It deserves more. I cannot justify keeping it any longer to the wife. It sucks because I love Rovers, especially this one. I am yet to see a cleaner example of a D2.

Spares-
Comes with a full box of spare parts and some new parts I have not gotten around to installing yet: Brembo rear drilled and slotted rotors, most of the engine gaskets, tranny service kit, oil filters, light covers, case of VR1 racing oil for the next change and a bunch more…

Vehicle is beautiful. Not a spec of rust anywhere. A couple things I may address before the sale is I have time: Installation of those rear rotors and the front drivers brake line needs to be swapped out for the stainless one. I have all of the parts for these and they are included in the sale if I don't get around to doing it myself. Has the normal rover exhaust tick when warm, kind of comes and goes. I have replaced the y-pipe gaskets 3 times trying to get rid of it. I have sever OCD so it bothers me but most likely no one else will even notice it. Steering wheel has the rover wobble at 45mph. Literally- starts at 45mph and stops at 46mph. I have no idea why they do this, but the D2's that are lifted do this. Drips 1 drop of oil per week. Also a standard rover first-world problem. Like I said, I notice everything. My day job is "attention to detail" and it has carried over on this vehicle. I will also Include the RAVE workshop manual on dvd for Land Rovers as well so you can turn a wrench or two if you so please. All fluids have been changed in the past 250 miles- Engine Oil and filter, diffs, transfer case, etc…

I'm sure I am forgetting some other stuff I have bolted onto this vehicle, please email or PM me with any questions.

Located in Albuquerque, NM. Asking $8250.00 Cash, sold as is without warranty. I may be able to deliver for the cost of fuel to and from within 500 miles and can make myself available if you want to have it shipped to you at your expense. Come by and take a look at it- you will not regret it. Thanks!

Nice, truck. I've got a friend that is looking but ABQ is a bit of a trek from LA. He could fly and drive for around $500 all in IIRC, I passed it along to him..

Thanks for the kind words gents. I would say 15mpg would be a safe all around estimate.

It also has the extended abs wires and I did the Disco 1 wiper arm conversion on it so you don't have to pair $48 dollars a pair for the garbage ones from land rover. Thanks!

Looks very nice and priced pretty fairly too. It's unfortunate how much you had to sink into it to get it to where it is now!
