I do like the Can-Back units but the one I chose was going to be twice the price. Plus they were having some supply issues at the time.

Yea, I cant afford a can-back. I am just trying to judge how much time I should spend waiting for a used cap, or just get the softtopper.

I will tell you that they TOUGH! I backed into a cedar tree that the limbs had been hacked off violently. Didn't tear the material but did leave a temporary mark. I'd buy one in a heartbeat again. A hard shell would've been all scratched up and possibly have a serious gouge in it as well.

Thats good to know, I like that are so light. I want a RTT someday, I guess I could build a frame to go over it and mount to that.

I've thought of that as well. Especially after seeing Wil's Toyota and the rack he built for it. Only problem would be removing the Softopper. It collapses like a convertible. Height would definitely have to be watched.

I wonder how hard / expensive it would be to have a large diameter aluminum rack built to over the softtopper. Maybe I'll try to draw up what I thinking.

Did you ever get that Wildernest? I know you were worried about it in the rain. I use Kiwi Camp Dry on mine, works fantastic.
The really nice thing about the 'Nest over a RRT, is you can stand up in it, cook, change clothes, if you have a dog, it can sleep on the floor of the truck.
Plus if you can get for the price you say...I wouldn't hesitate...and if you find you don't like it, easy sell.

No, I havent gotten the wildernest. My wife isnt big on the idea, plus, she doesnt think that we could handle taking it on and off the truck. Needless to say, I am bummed. I might just do it...

Yea, I thought the Wildernest was a decent compromise. Have you and your lady ever removed it? Maybe if I can get some first hand accounts....
