I’m going to have one of these maintain the main and only AMG battery.

What are you planning to use for your battery? I noticed on your Tundra thread it appeared that you had a DieHard Platinum but with Sears acting wonky was curious what this build would have.

Figure I add some photos of what I have done to baseline the Sequoia.

Your typical major service was performed on mine and a buddies Sequoia at the same time. Twin Build!

Also did the 05-07 plenum retrofit. Basically the plastic plenum has variable runners switching from long to short manually based of vacuum. Because the pre 04 didn’t have this ability. The ecu doesn’t control the runners. Bypassing the vsv for the runners to direct vacuum allows it to be controlled based off vacuum instead.

Initially I noticed a nice throttle response at low/mid throttle. No MPG. Saved a few lbs which will be appreciated if I need to pull it to do the starter.

Yes the starter is under the plenum that takes me an easy 15mins to remove lol.

This is for 03-04 Sequoia and Tundra as pre 02 has a different TB which requires a custom made adapter

You’ll want to get a complete 05+ plenum with fuel rail and throttle body. You will swap your pre 04 injectors into the 05+ fuel rails. The +05 TB needs to be installed 180 (upside down) for the connector the plug back in. I also took this time to bypass the coolant into the TB. I don’t see freeze temps to need it imo. You’ll also use your original fuel regulator on the 05 fuel rail in order to connect the fuel lines. Reconnect all the vacuum lines.

Took the time to replace the LBJ. Common issue for these to fail but they are wear and tear items that are replaced as needed. With a new build I rather know the history. Plus it’s fairly cheap and easy to do.

Also installed a set of 1.25 wheel spacers for the FJ80 wheels I plan on running

Very nice. My wife’s truck is a 07 Limited Sequoia. Got it in 2009 with 70K miles. Changed the water pump/belt @ 90K miles. Other than wires, battery, air filter and oil is about the only thing mechanically I have done to this truck with Genuine Toyota parts. Our truck seated 7 with Captain chairs in the 2nd row. I was surprised when my wife asked me to retrofit a 60/40 bench in the 2nd row. Took me an 1hr to do. Now it sits 8 people. Oh and i also changed the rims with 5 FJ rims/tires. The truck now has 185K

That’s a clean Sequoia. They really don’t need much once you do the major service on them.

Did you sell the captains seats and center console ?

The passenger seat stays and I just got the drivers 60 part of the seat in a junkyard by my house. Guy gave me the seat for $20 and it’s the leather material

Project Group 31 Battery

-Trim tray so battery sits flat
-Place battery in vehicle with modified tray
-J bolt doesn’t reach so I just hooked it in a different spot. May get longer j bolt later.
-Unclip cable harness to gain more length
-Remove positive cable from terminal to relay box.
-Install positive terminal to battery
-Take cable from relay and use the extra positive stud on battery
  • remove negative body ground
  • Run negative terminal to negative post
  • Drill new body ground hole
  • install m6 nutsert
  • reinstall body ground

- start vehicle and let it relearn idle

- enjoy the extra reserve capacity

Good idea on the larger battery. Quick question though....as it's a deep-cycle won't you run the risk of burning it out using it as a starter battery? Or is it rated for dual use (like a starter/trolling motor battery)?

These are dual use. I been running AMG deep cycles in my two other Toyota’s. The runner has had one for 7-8 years now. The tundra is going on 3-4 years.

The tundra has solar that keeps it topped off when not in use. The sequoia will get the same treatment.
