2004 Tahoe-verland

I know is not cheap, I'm having a fuel pump and motor mounts installed next week. Going to have to work more over time. I like the blacked out head lights on your rig.

Thanks. They were like $60 for the full set and low+high bulbs from headlights direct or something like that. However I replaced the lowbeams with LEDs cause the ones that came with the housings kept burning out about once a month

Unfortunately when my transfer case started leaking in my 06 2500 sub, I started dismantling it , and found I had some internal damage(metal flakes). Since mine is a daily driver, I ended up ordering a rebuilt unit from Kodiak Trucks. I got a solid unit from Mark.

Nice to see another GMT800. I don't get on here as often any more but I still lurk sometimes. Do the GMT900 brake upgrade. Well worth it and direct bolt on.

Yeah I've been meaning to do the upgrade with PPV parts but just haven't had the time to start gathering parts

Felt like the front of the truck was missing something so I found a decent brush guard and installed it today

Still need to modify the tow hooks slightly so I can put them back on

Is that the Ares 4043? I've had it on my amazon list for years, just never seem to get around to buying it. I'd very much like to get one and add a couple modifications to it

Yes it's the Aries. I still have to shave part of the tow hooks to get them back on. What modifications were you thinking?

IF I understand the aries correctly, it's only attached at those bottom mounts, correct? So some sort of tubular vertical/diagonal bracing from the midline of the grill guard plates down between the bumper and grill to the top of the frame rails forward of the shock towers.

also a larger diameter pipe across the front of the bumper, mandrel-bent continuous pipe, thru the vertical plates of the grill guard. Straight center portion, outer portions angled back a bit to better conform with the bumper.

here's a quick hack-sketch I did several months ago

Aries Grill Guard mod design.jpg

The Aries plates go inside the frame rails? So you'll have to shorten the barrel part of the fatory hooks so they'll go back in there?

I've also been long considering a front receiver hitch, too. I'm hoping its mounting plates go between the frame rail ends, rather than inside the ends.

Saw online somewhere (I think here) that somebody swapped the DRL's to another blinker bulb to make the whole lower housing a blinker/parking light like the 90's trucks used to be. I liked it so I did it to my Tahoe

I bought my truck at 90k and changed out all the fluids at 100k miles on my '11 2500hd. The axles and the trans fluid all looked new still. The transfer case fluid looked nasty. I think I'm gonna change it again at my next oil change at 122k.

Your not running it in auto are are you? The 99 I had looked dirty after I bought it and the previous owner had run it in auto. I had to get it repaired about a year later.

Went and camped in South Mountain State Park in NC this past weekend. Nothing crazy just hiking and hanging out with a couple of friends. Canopy was set up over the opening of the tent and cleared the hatch by about an inch to give a little bit of extra shelter from the rain
