2005 Ford V-10 Build

It looks like I am actually starting to work on my van that I purchased last month. It is a 2005 Ford E-350 with the 6.8L V-10. This build will take at least a year but decided I would like to document it from the beginning. The end goal is a Sportsmobile interior with penthouse top, ujoint offroad conversion and a few other good things put in. In the time being while I save up for the SMB conversion there will be a few things I work on myself. In addition to being used for camping it's also used for my catering business. Here is a horrible picture taken from my phone in stock form.

So the first thing that was done yesterday was to put an alarm system and window tint. The alarm I went with was the Viper Smart Start system which lets you use your iphone to start your car from virtually anywhere you have cell service. This is particulary helpful for those fridgid Texas weathers when I'm in class and would like to warm up the van before I get to it. The tint I went with was 30% on the front drivers/passenger window and limo on everything else.

Beginning today and tomorrow we will be installing the indash touch screen, mac mini computer, new headunit and backup camera. Lots of pictures to come.

Sweet. Look forward to the transformation! Great idea to document & share everything.

Alright so here is the progress on the Mac Mini Install, I wish I could take credit for this but I'm having a local shop do the install since I usually electrocute myself when doing wiring. In the stock ashtray we mounted an Iphone dock and then in the doghouse we are relocating the headunit with an upgraded kenwood and the mac mini. Also have yet to figure out where we are mounting the 1tb external hard drive for music, dvd, tv shows.

So this week I was craiglisting and found a Dana 60 axle for the front of the van. Pictures to come and time to call ujoint about his conversion.

So the mac install is done and up and running works pretty well when it actually starts up by itself.

So it has been awhile since I have updated my build thread. Over the last month I have let my old man borrow the van to take to Colorado. Once he finished using it I removed all of the seats and took a few minutes to build a temporary mount to mount my bikes inside the van. Also added a new interior mod which is the kayak.

Next week will be the next big mod which is the penthouse top from Sportsmobile. After that saving up and selling some old projects with a mid August/early September lift kit from Ujoint with 37's. Enjoy

Sorry about the low res pics later this week I will get out the 7d and do a real photo shoot after I move into my new place.

Well this morning the next phase for the van began, I dropped her off at sportsmobile to have the penthouse top installed. Also lost a hubcap on my drive home from the base a couple weeks ago so I took the rest off and painted the wheels black. Pics to come soon.

Finally had time today after class to take a few pictures of the van. I am very pleased with the SMB penthouse top once I got over the stick shock. I ended up with the electric top since the women is 5'3'' and wouldn't be able to lift a manual top with a kayak and gear on top.

I've also include a few pictures of the new wheels and what she looks like with limo tint on the sides. The video is of the Mac mini install and the kenwood headunit. By utilizing the computer I'll be able to download all of my videos onto a hard drive and not have to carry around 100's of dvds. Enjoy.
