You can get a bracket on eBay that moves the spare tire up a couple inches to add clearanceThe spare tire just barely fits on the factory carrier without flipping it. I read on Discount Tire's website that K02s in 285/70/17 were 32.8". A tape measurer has these at just a hair under 33 while using the stock Mitsubishi rims.
The front wasn't actually rubbing. Turned out the wheel well shroud lost a fastener and was bent toward the tire a little, making contact when turning. I went ahead and trimmed the front bumper plastic a little anyway since it was so close. Haven't cleaned it up yet though. About to take it on a camping trip and test things out.
