In my continuing bid to sell pretty much everything I own prior to moving abroad, I’m selling my 2005 Chevrolet Kodiak C5500. It’s 2WD with 6.6L Duramax diesel engine and Allison automatic transmission. Extremely clean and with only 18,000 original miles, this vehicle will provide many years of sterling service.

The vehicle is in Surrey, BC, Canada, only a 10-minute drive from the Washington border at Blaine. I can pick you up at Vancouver airport if you want to do a fly-drive. It just had its annual CVSE (mandatory provincial inspection) on August 8, 2023 and passed with flying colours. The vehicle runs great and there are no known issues.

This vehicle was originally custom-fabricated for the Arizona Police Department and is now ready for its next adventure. The conversion and upfitting were done by LDV, one of the USA’s premium custom manufacturers. The box is aluminum construction and is extremely well insulated, having been built to withstand the blisteringly hot Arizona climate. It spent most of its life in a dry climate, so has no rust issues. The interior of the box was originally equipped with a multitude of heavy-duty cupboards and shelving. Although these have been removed, they are in storage and can be supplied with the vehicle if the new owner wants to reinstall or repurpose them.

The vehicle is equipped with a large 7.5 KW Cummins Onan commercial-grade generator with only 76 hours of operation. It also includes a full electrical system, two new house batteries (August 2023), Coleman Mach rooftop air conditioner, multiple air vents, heater, and a comprehensive alarm system. There is a total of eight 120v outlets in the vehicle (6 internal, 2 external) to power all your equipment or tools.

The potential uses for this vehicle are virtually unlimited. A rock-solid chassis combined with a professionally constructed body, robust electrical system, air conditioning, heating and ventilation give you unlimited possibilities. Some of the potential uses and applications include:
  • Mobile command/incident centre
  • Mobile office
  • Service truck (mechanic, plumber, electrician, construction, etc.)
  • Mobile medical, dental or vaccination clinic
  • Mobile creative studio (photographers, graphic designers, etc.)
  • Event or marketing vehicle
  • Convert into tiny home or RV
  • Movie industry (on screen or off)
  • Mobile business (pet grooming, massage, hairdresser, auto detailing, etc.)
Additional specifications, photos, details, etc. are available upon request. Potential purchasers are welcome to come and view the vehicle, which is located in South Surrey, BC, Canada.

Asking $44,999 USD OBO.

Thanks for looking.

What's the process for bringing it (back) into the state's?
Just looked at https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/importing-car and seems like returning US vehicles can be imported back into the USA duty free.

  • Certain vehicles may be eligible for duty-free treatment as U.S. Goods Returned. In accordance with Section 904(b) of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015 (Pub. L. 114-125, February 24, 2016), subheading 9801.00.10 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States provides for the duty-free treatment of:
  • Products of the United States when returned after having been exported, or any other products when returned within three years after having been exported, without having been advanced in value or improved in condition by any process of manufacture or other means while abroad.
  • Under this provision, qualifying vehicles that are being returned may be eligible for duty-free treatment. This provision may be applied to either personal or commercial importations of used vehicles. The burden of substantiating eligibility lies with the importer and claims are subject to verification. See HQ H314176 (March 18, 2021).”
