Aewsome rig

Have you looked at sharkhide to help protect the aluminum? It's used on jet boats and other aluminum boats all the time. I've used it there and on other bare aluminum parts. Does a good job on helping with the corrosion as well. I also picked up their acid wash, cleans things up real quick.

OR2BAJA, Yeah I've had my eyes on a Carli's products for some time now...Seems really nicely made. Reliability is my most sought after trait on this truck, so slowly but surely I'll be making mods to reduce the likelihood of getting stranded somewhere. I know the axle truss is a good mod, and some free-spinning hubs are in my future too. Unfortunately I replaced both the hubs and the ball joints back in 2013, so I'm gonna wait until these ones wear out before I put the good stuff on.

I hadn't considered the control arms though (not wanting to lift the truck any higher than it already is, so i've not looked at lift-related parts), so I'll check them out! I know my Jeep XJ had crap stock control arms, and the Ram's look to be a similar design.

Inline6: Sharkhide looks great! I've looked into it since you mentioned it, and think it'd do just the trick.....I need to get SOMETHING on the truck...

That's an awesome looking truck! I would love to have something like that, maybe when I hit the lottery lol (sure not on a medic's salary). Your wife looks like she's almost too short to cook on that thing though!

Consider Don Thuren's product. Small four man operation with two distributors. www.cjcoffroad.com and www.thurenfabrication.com direct. Nice to support the small company and save considerable ducets also.

How have you found the 48re? I have a similar truck that I want to convert to an overland rig. I'm just not sure if I should eventually convert the truck to manual transmission.
