2010 GoPro HD Camera Review

I just got an email back today from GoPro regarding an external battery charger for a second battery. There are a few aftermarket 120v wall chargers, but no 12v or factory authorized ones. GoPro told me that the new extended battery pack functions as a charger when not attached to the camera!!

Double score GoPro!

Cant wait for the 3D housing to be relased!

Lifted: I will be all over that 3D set up. How cool would it have been if this video I took during the Baja 500 was 3D? Thanks for the info. George

I will buy it and a spare battery, but to use on the camera, as I have the new LCD BacPac on it now.
Can not run both BacPacs at the same time.

Cool video above too, I like how the rocks come right at you.

To reiterate what everyone is saying... these cameras are amazing! They are great for scuba diving and snorkelling because they are so compact. There is one slight downside to them and that is the curved lense on the factory GoPro is not optically corrected for underwater shooting even though it is touted as an underwater camera. The result of this is a slightly blurry (thus disappointing) picture in underwater situations. Sartek to the rescue!...

Sartek has taken it upon themselves to modify the factory GoPro housing by swapping the curved lense with a flat glass lense that is optically corrected for underwater shooting. The result is AMAZING and the cost is about 100 bucks which is worth the money to me as a scuba diver.

With the modified housing it is best to shoot in full 1080p in order to avoid a black halo in your videos due to the extreme wide angle of the lense in 980 and lower settings. If you want to shoot in 980 for a super wide angle, it is best to use the factory housing above water. Will post a video soon of my summer testing of the new housing.

Happy shooting!

I just picked up a Gopro Helmit cam setup with the LCD screen at the Outdoor Retailers sow. $250 out the door was hard to pass up. Let the fun begin. What are you guys using to stitch timelapse photos together. Any freeware out there?
