There always got to be one anomaly that lives for convenience rather than durability I suppose. We’ll see how well you like it when you really need 4wd the most on a snowy and frozen CO morning and you flip that dial and nothing happens. Or when you get off the trail 140 miles from home and try to shift from 4 LO to 2 HI and the encoder motors sticks or transfer case control module fails and leaves you in 4 LO. Makes for a long slow drive home in 4 LO. I’ll take the lever with locking hubs any day over any electric shift transfercase. :coffeedrink:

We've got a guy in the association that lost his 4Lo because of water in the connectors and possibly in the module.

I dislike the dial because it's slow, you need to push in the clutch, sometimes it just sits there flashing and beeping at you. It really isn't a good set up for 4WD use. I'm just waiting to put that crawl box in from Marlin/Inchworm to get rid of the dial!

It would be similar to having a transmission that you would dial your gears too and it shifts automatically for you... oh wait...

I would prefer all manual controls of transmission, T-case, lockers hubs etc.

You know that when electrical things fail it wont be in your driveway on a nice warm and sunny day.

The new styling is much more rugged than the current organic Camry styling. A truck shouldn't look like it's trying to be a car.

I just got the '10 4runner update for my toyota parts catalog!!! I only see a 1grfe(4.0l) motor for it and no mtm. If you guys have anY component related questions fire away. I'm kinda bummed theres no 4.6L option. One good thing, it borrowed the transfer case from the fj and the trail edition has a rear locker; FGR 41:11=3.727

I like that the lead, sidehill photo with the MT/R Kevlar appears to have lots of sidewall (not too big a wheel).

The electric controls for my t-case have worked flawlessly....once I figured out what the computer wanted to see. before you shift to 4L: truck stationary, trans in neutral, park brake on, depress clutch (after shifting to neutral), hold clutch in and shift to 4L. Works perfectly everytime. Nothing to say it wont fail, but it does work.

ON THE OTHER HAND...... once you put the electric shift in -30C or colder weather.....good luck getting it to do anything. I got stuck in a snowdrift a couple winters back, 100's of km's from town and it took about 30minutes of screwing around to get the truck into 4L so I could engage the locker. I was wishing I had a manual shifter then....

So my vote...manual hubs and a manual shift t-case, I'd rather have to get out in the most horrific weather imaginable and lock my hubs then trust that a little electric motor and a circuit board are gonna save my bacon.

How about keeping it ADD w/ manual override? My sunroof has the same option.
