congratulations on the new Rubicon!
Is that the cleghorn trail you are on?

Thank you very kindly, and yes it is Cleghorn. It's a fun little proving ground. It's really too bad that they shut down a lot of the fun stuff. I haven't been there in a while so I thought it would be the perfect spot to try out the new rig, and see what has changed. I may have to take my van there when I get the skid plates on it.

Very nice! Thanks for working out the mods in advance for us --hopefully we will get ours next year. Missed you guys on the MR, but it looks like you had fun anyway. BTW, we saw a '12 JKUR Crush at Fort Piute with the dealer plates still on as well. (Crush with a matching top is a lot of orange.)

I'm leaning on the big boys for this build. I want to keep the lifetime warranty in place. To be honest, after the van build I'm done crawling around on the concrete for a while. It's going to my friends shop where there is shelter and a lift.
I'm sorry we missed the MR too.. We almost showed up in the Rubi at the last minute, but I couldn't figure out where to put the extra fuel. I like the orange krush. My favorite is the jeep green. I really like all of the new colors. If I were to buy one for me I would go with the Sahara Tan, Natural Green Pearl, or pay extra for the Jeep Green. It's to my understanding that the Sahara Tan and Natural Green Pearl have been discontinued so that they can sell off some of the other colors.

i've got one just like that on order. 2 more weeks (hopefully)!

You're going to love it. One really nice factory feature, is the remote start. I've had to install it on several of my cars in the past and I was really happy to find out that it comes equipped with the feature.

I know why they called it a JK ... because Jeep was JUST KIDDING when they designed this POS. I'm sick of the dealer. Going back AGAIN.

Um...there was a great big gap in the information there. Care to fill us in on what's been going on?
Yes. Do tell.
You were happy as a clam a few years ago.

I've gone through it, btw. Had a 2011 Power Wagon that spent way too many weeks at the dealership. Finally got some Chrysler love and managed a trade.
for a 2014 JKU Sport...
Got the 999 month 999,999 mile bumper to bumper warranty also.

What's gone wrong with your Rubi?

I've been trying to be patient and quiet and the good guy because my wife loves this thing BUT I don't know where to begin other than I will never buy another new JEEP again.
The dealerships and the warranty system is crap.

2 separate times for heads both driver side and passenger side twice done by two different dealerships ( not sure about the 2nd one yet )
1 time because the head was installed incorrectly and the timing cover was leaking due to poor installation techniques.
1 severe tread wear
12 MPG ? Stock 98' TJ on 37's gets better mileage.

It started a total mistrust in the warranty and dealership system which I can't get over. They want to charge the manufacturer and not do any work to the car. Bottom line. Also the techs don't get paid the same for warranty work as they would if the customer was paying for it out of pocket so they tend to brush it aside warranty work and find an easy charge, like an oil change, air filter, ect. Well I tested them and, that they didn't do so good. ... how do I know.. because I'm SYKO MIKE I marked the filter and it was still in there after they charged me for a new filter and synthetic oil that smelled like gasoline. NICE, yes they were made aware of it and everyone in the dealership heard as well.
So, now it needs a water pump now and I don't even want to deal with the dealer. They won't give me the parts for warranty, I have purchase them, or let it sit in the dealer for a week while they train pimple popper how to tie his shoes.

I love my TJ and I will not invest a single dollar more into this JKUR except to make the payment. I can't trust that it will get me home and I don't care enough about the curved windshield to look any further into it., Sorry guys. you lost me. I really had high hopes for this platform. Maybe the next generation will tickle me but the JKUR is overweight and far too far from a jeep for me, for my wife it's fine and I'm not gonna sit and piss about it anymore I just care about our community and everyone needs to stay away from SCOTT ROBINSON JEEP.

It sounds like your issues are mostly with the dealership.

However, I also have a '12 JKUR, and 12MPG is definitely not right.

Feel your pain! Been there done that. Took me 7+ months in the buy back process but I eventually got my money back and the pile of crap jeep with less than 8 thousand miles was gone.

If you haven't yet. Start the lemon law or buy back process!

This is the thing about that ultra-extended warranty that I don't like. The last 3 vehicles that I've purchased have been new and I've turned down the extended warranty offer every time precisely because I don't like dealing with dealerships! I HATE taking my car back to the dealer for anything - even warranty work that isn't going to cost me a dime! It just seems like they don't give a damn about anything but getting the job done as quickly as possible. I know it may sound strange, but when one of my vehicles reaches the point where the warranty no longer applies I actually breathe a sigh of relief. I'm not joking! Because after that time I know it will never, ever, go back to the dealership again.

I'm still going to buy a new JKU one of these days, hopefully pretty soon, but I don't think that lifetime warranty is in the plan.

I didn't realize that the techs get paid differently based on whether it's a warranty job or not. That's interesting.

Did you read his post? 2 heads on both sides...

AND the dealer suck.

Too bad, love the look of the jeep.

Heads on early 2012s are a common knowledge recall issue, supposed to be one time. From what I can tell by his post, the dealership messed up the fix, hence the second one.

Maybe I misunderstood.

Toolman,

I live very close to Scott Robinson Jeep, the service department is terrible, not surprised to hear of your misery with them. Needless to say, after a couple bad experiences in the past, I don't go there anymore.

Hang in there.

Hey Dstock - Where do you take yours? I have had Scott Robinson do a couple of oil changes and then the water pump under warranty (I had to diagnose it for them). They did not instill confidence so if there is a better dealer I am willing to drive a little.

Thanks.

Mike - sorry about the JKUR. You should definitely start the lemon law process. Let me know if you need some help.

I've had decent success with Don-a-Vee, that was on the 2010, and they were mod friendly. The 2013 I bought from Orange Coast in Costa Mesa. The purchase went fine and I had them do a tire wheel swap for me at that time. To be honest, I did my first oil change myself, so damn easy with the new 3.6, and I have not had a single issue requiring a dealer visit. They also appear to be mod friendly.

It will be a year old next week and oil change indicator popped on so I am going to let them do it. I'm down their way all the time due to my daughter's softball schedule so it's not really out of the way.

I will report back and let you all know how it goes.

Sorry to hear about your issues but in have to agree with getoutthere. Heads were and continue to be a problem in the 12s and 13s so much so that Chrysler has recently released a letter stating that they are extending the portion of the bumper to bumper warranty that pertains to the 3.6 now for the dealership. Is that the only jeep dealership in the area? Why do you continue to go back? If you have proven they are lying why not try a law suit. At least report them to the quality control office. Chrysler and jeep have openly admitted they had a problem and they are trying to fix it. And before we getn into it. Yes I am a fan of JEEP. No I've never owned the magical 4.0. I love my 09 and I love my 14. Hands down the platform with the greatest potential.

I bought the 4 oilchanges for $80 for the Power Wagon (7 quart hemi) at Palmer Dodge. Went in for an oil change, got back to my lab and checked the oil. It was dark and smelly.
Checked the filter and it was covered with mud.
Called the service writer who spoke with the tech; tech swore he did his job.
Went back to the dealership and showed them the dirty oil and filter; tech's face dropped to the ground. He held up a used Purolator filter; I never used anything but MOPAR...
He looks back at his bay and says, "dam; I musta changed the oil twice on that truck then..."

A good dealership is the only answer. They are rare and valuable.
