My wife loved the Evoque and we were all but done buying one, when they let us take one home for the weekend. Kids cannot see out of the back seat as the back seats are low and the door cards are high. Additionally with the way the roof slopes, the visibility out of one makes it limited.
When there to do the deal on the Evoque, they had a new 2011 LR2 service loaner with 12K miles on it. I overheard the lead tech speaking with the service writers about how the LR2 was the best truck LR ever made because they rarely see them in the shop. His comment was something to the effect that he was glad they weren't all made that reliable as the service department wouldn't have jobs!
So, in the end we got a smokin' deal on this new 2011 LR2 Green/tan. While it isn't as "sheik" as the Evoque, it certainly has plenty of visibility, plenty of room, only a few miles to the gallon less MPG. and many of the attibutes of the LR3. The other advantage was, ... the Evoque were were looking at was $47K. The LR2 we got was $29K.
Huge difference!

Dendy we have had the same experience. My wife didn't like the visibility/feel of the Evoque when she sat in it. We borrowed an LR2 for the weekend and she liked it a lot. I think it's a much better vehicle than many give it credit for. I can't believe how well they are holding their value - the 2010/11 certified's are going for 27-29k all day long around here and the local dealer has sold 3 or 4 in the last month.
Our dilema is that my wife loves the Range Rover Sports and they have a little more cargo room. There are some nice clean 09's with lower miles in the low 30's so for a few thousand extra over the LR2 it's tempting. That being said, you are looking at a lot less gas/maintenance costs over the years owning an LR2 instead of the Range Rover Sport.
All in all though, we have been very impressed with the LR2. Many have been serviced at the dealership with 100k + and no issues.
