2014 JK 2 Door Build

Hi guys,

I've been lurking here for a while and figured that I should finally start my own build thread. She began life as a base model sport with the only options being air conditioning and 3.73 gears.

Since then I've tried to keep thinks simple and as close to stock as possible for reliability. I started by adding "the combo" from discount tire which includes 15x8in level 8 rims with 33x12.5in Goodyear Duratracs along with some a-pillar mounted KC spotlights.

I then ponied up for some JCR classic sliders which I painted up myself in my garage.

From there I added a takeoff Rubicon suspension, Teraflex hinge and a hitch with another tow point. I can't find the pics right now but I'll post them later on in the thread...

Since then I've been focusing on enjoying it as much as possible. I've taken it all over. From the Grand Canyon to Big Bear to San Francisco to Anza Borrego and everywhere in between.

Nice. We don't see many 2-doors on here. Looks good.

I love my JKU and personally I couldn't do without the space it provides, but I'm often envious of the simplicity and old-school character of a 2-door Jeep.

I'm with you on the build philosophy. Keep it simple, close to stock. These things will go almost anywhere right off the showroom floor, anyway.

Yup. Just head south out of town on borrego springs road and you'll see it off to the right. It's a little farther of the road than some of the other statues so there weren't too many people back there.

Thanks! My philosophy so far has been to start as basic as possible and then when I find a weakness, I fix it. I got stuck in the mud so I got some 33in ATs. Got banged around on the rocks so I added a bit of lift and some rock sliders. Got caught and the dark and couldn't see so I added some lights. I don't have a whole lot of money to build so I just add what I need when I need it. :)

Looks great. As noted above, great to see some more 2doors. I love mine.

I like your philosophy, keep with it. Too many people throw way too much money at these things and never end up using them. They are extremely capable right out of the box.

Perfect - that's it, keep it simple and as close to stock as possible and spend your free cash actually going places. Good luck & enjoy.

With the rear seats removed I can actually fit a lot of stuff. Two home depot tuff totes, a big igloo cooler and seven gallons of water all fit perfectly in the back without having to stack anything. I can just bungee a couple of duffle bags to the totes and I'm good to go. All I really need is some sort of table to put my stove on.

Last thing that I'm really saving up for is some Maxtrax. They're pretty expensive but are still a lot cheaper than a winch...

A winch takes up less room and is easier to tote though...along with being more useful in more situations. Just a thought.

And yep, I brought my 2dr home, removed the rear seat and it hasn't been back in since.

Been a while since my last post. Here's where she sits now.

Added some new protection in the front as well as a full set of LEDs. Heads, fogs and light bar.

This actually a precursor to this weekend. I'm going to be stepping up the protection in the front and I've decided that I'm not a fan of the color temp on the LEDs. Going to be switching back to halogens.

Stay tuned!
