***Edit: I've decided to keep this truck. I've gotten nothing but part-out and low-ball offers, even at as low of a price as it was. I'm excited to get to continue adventuring as planned when I built it, and will always look forward to showing up Jeeps and Toyotas with my "budget" truck.

Hey everyone! This is Ghost! A 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X with the AT Habitat camper system.

Mileage: 90,xxx
Location: Austin, TX

Condition: I’m the 2nd owner of this truck. It was purchased from a local Subaru dealership in 2020. Before my purchase, this truck was bone stock and was used as a family vehicle. It had highway tires, car seat marks on the rear seats, and a copy of Veggie Tales left in the rear seat pocket. The truck is in great mechanical condition, and there are no clunks or rattles in the suspension. It has some cosmetic blemishes, including rock chips and the common paint peel on the driver side fender (the base layer paint is still there and protects from rust). I have travelled all over the Texas/NM/Arizona and Southern Colorado region over the years on multiple camping adventures and it has performed flawlessly. The truck has a clean Carfax report and I have a clean title in hand.

Reason for sale: Two reasons: 1) I'm relocating to the PNW (Seattle Area) and need to downsize my garage. 2) I've purchased a 4x4 Ambulance conversion that is taking the place of my Frontier. It's a huge project that I need the funds for. I am extremely sad to see it go, and I really wish it goes to someone who can enjoy it like I did.

Stand out from the Jeeps and Toyotas!!!

First and foremost, I want to mention the vinyl wrap. It was done by a high-end shop here in Austin called Wrap Dynamics. I had it done about 14 months ago, and it is all 3M product. The wolf and text are vinyl decals on top of the matte green, and can be removed with care and patience. The matte black on the topper is vital if you travel in a convoy as the bare metal causes major glare if the sun is just right. I did not have the bumper wrapped due to its complexity, but also because I was contemplating replacing it with a steel bumper later.

When it comes to maintenance, I've replaced the serpantine belt, spark plugs, brake fluid, rear parking brake pads and have had an alignment done within the last 5k miles. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that needs to get done within the next 10k miles outside of oil changes is the rear diff seal and all transfer case and diff fluids. AC blows cold, and all electronics work as they should.

The AT Habitat topper was professionally installed by AT Overland in Prescott, AZ. I've absolutely love this setup because it grants you a place to stand inside to change clothes. Since there are no bed platforms, you don't have to move your partner to get out of bed, and you have a place inside for your dirty shoes. If you have a dog, this is a perfect solution as you can wipe their paws before they hop up into your bed.

We've done everything from camping in the desert and on the beach, to winter camping in the mountains. It's compact and rigid enough to get you through tight trails with low tree limbs, and doesn't whistle when you're doing 70mph on the highway.

Speaking of, this truck has a 20 gallon fuel tank, and as it sits gets around 12MPG city and 16MPG highway. It's very planted and smooth, and having done many trips through vast, empty west Texas, I can confirm it eats up miles no problem.

There's so much more to talk about, so let me know if you have any questions. If you'd like to see the history of this truck as I've owned it, visit my Instagram at awooadvocate. There you'll also find my other project and reason I'm selling Ghost.

Cheers!

This seems like a great option over a Tacoma or Ranger and at a significant savings!!! Maybe I am missing something??
Nope, no rust or major repairs needed. It's turn-key and ready to go! The ONLY reason it's so cheap is because it has a Nissan badge, even though it's just as capable, powerful and reliable.

I am on a time crunch as I need this gone before I move across the US, so I've dropped the price significantly. My loss is your gain. The AT topper alone is $14k new with no options and months worth of wait.

I am not in the market after having just bought a vehicle for my needs but I am curious, what kind of mileage are you seeing? How off road capable is the Nissan platform?

Its a lot of vehicle with mods and adventure equipment for the price, wish you the best of luck with the sale.

The Frontier is a simple, analog beast, very capable and durable, lots of fun off road.
The OME suspension is engineered in Australia to pretty exacting standards and a noticeable upgrade over stock. Otherwise, with the factory locker, these trucks need very little to be outstanding in the dirt. There isn't a bunch of aftermarket parts partially because they are not needed to get respectable performance from the truck. Unfortunately, all this old-school comes with old-school mileage, which drops off road and in low-range, but that's what gas cans are for.

As it sits, it gets around 12MPG city and about 16MPG highway. Biggest hit to MPG was the oversized tires and front bumper, but I'm on par in terms of range with my friend's 2017 Tacoma with a GFC and the same tires.

It's been great off-road. Air down the tires and it's very smooth. The suspension makes no noise (other than the occasional leaf spring squeak), and I haven't noticed any pops or clunks in off-camber stuff. It has plenty of torque, especially in 4LO, and the hill decent works just as well as the Tacoma.
