Those are the best spy photos yet! I like what I see so far. It's already better looking than the Colorado/Canyon just by the design of the rear wall of the crew cab. The Colorado/Canyon looks goofy with their angled rear cab wall. The Tacoma looks promising! I hope they give the Taco a manual shift transfercase option like in the 4Runner.

Because of that goofy cab wall, I think I prefer the Colorados and Canyons in long-bed configuration. I'm normally a short-bed only kinda guy. I would love to see a designated Trail version like the 4Runner has. I know one of the blurbs from Toyota mentioned some new tech to assist with off-road performance, so I have my fingers crossed that it may be a possibility!

Oh my, I hope not! That looks like 4Runner and Tundra got together for a night and popped out a Tacoma 9 months later. Hopefully that is a photochoped piece using unflattering aspects of both the Tundra (bed & extended cab door design) and 4runner (front clip). Hmmm, now I am scared again. You can never trust manufacturers to do the right thing when it’s time for a new design

Dont hold your breath. As of yesterday the car mag guys are all expecting a very very mild nothing ground breaking re release of the old tacoma with some minor body work and taking a Page out of Fords play book of just adding content to an old out dated platform. So far the news surfacing is looking like Toyota will take a huge beating by the press for doing basically nothing.

I suspect Nissan will be the first to get an all new ground up mid sized rig on the showroom floor. I would expect smoother sleeker lines and a focus on refined ride, interior and passenger safety / crash test improvements along with capacity improvements.

I also think its important for everyone to look at the new diesels not as the age old "cheaper to run" but as larger range and different power over the gas option.

Here is a sneak picture from the official toyota instagram page of the headlights of the new tacoma.

Not bad IMO!

That's no HiLux I've ever seen. And regarding RHS/LHS in the photo -- it would take two seconds to reverse the print in any imaging software or hardware.

I do think its going to be facinating to see how the mid size game plays out. GM not going full monty and launching the Diesel version and doing what seems like a very weak and poor promotion of the Canyon and Colorado seems to have bit them in the ***** regarding the Auto reviewer blogs. The ground up design and being the first major midsize effort in a decade should have had far more Buzz and effort from GM.

The more leaked shots the more I see lipstick content plugged into the old Tacoma, AKA FORDS play with the Mustang, Escape and Ranger for 15yrs.

I will look at trading my diesel Jeep when there is a ground up redesign or a diesel added...until then they are just changing the body panels...meh

At least the Colorado/Canyon and what we know of the Tacoma doesn’t look as goofy as this poor thing..

The rear cab wall on the Mitsubishi makes the Colorado look good!

I would love to see a 100% new truck, but as long as they're doing more than cosmetic this time (interior, powertrain, etc) I'm okay with it (for now).

SSF from all the auto blogger stuff I think your approach and take is exactly what were going to see, unless Toyota is yanking everyones chain big time, which I highly doubt. As mentioned by a few sites most people will just buy a used Tacoma possibly with some mods already and have a better truck at half the price if whats being leaked is what the auto blogger nuts have sorted out as just lipstick on the old truck.
