That Hilux looks like a mid production (say 2007, 2008 or so) Tacoma with less stylized wheel wells. Can see the family resemblance to the 200 Series. Good looking truck.

I like the Fortuner too.

I dunno...not sure why grills are getting bigger and bigger...some cars are going through the same thing

Wow, that's disappointing! A lame face lift that makes it uglier. So much for "all new", looks like I won't be replacing my 2007 anytime soon, unless the global Ranger shows up...

Well, here tis….hmmm, it indeed looks more like a mid-cycle refresh than an all new truck. I wouldn't say that I love it but I don't hate it either. Have to sit on these pictures for a while to decide for sure. So far, I think it looks better than the Colorado but I still prefer the 4Runner better.

Is it just me or does the [old] cab body line not flow into the bed AT ALL?!?

Could this be like the 1985 trucks? They had a new body with an older frame style. Could these trucks have an old body with a newer frame and drivetrain components.

The engine and drivetrain options would have to be a grand slam dunk to win me over at this point. This might make my decision to sink more fun money into my current sled easier.

Yeah, I've saw that bumper too on my 4Runner surfing lately but it doesn't appeal to me personally but I could see some people liking that one better. I really want a 2015 4Runner Trail Premium in a bad way! These photos of the new Taco just confirmed my desire for a 4Runner over a Taco. The boss is 80% on board for a new 4Runner over a small truck (Colorado, Taco or Frontier) in the coming months. We recently sold our ‘92 4Runner and need another to take its spot in the garage. I want a new daily driver too…tired of rowing the ZF 6 speed manual in my Silvy on a daily basis. I thought I wanted a 2014 Silverado 1500 crew cab until I drove one for a week. No thanks……

The new 4Runner is odd to me....some days I like it, other days I find it hard to look at.

After owning a SUV for a couple years now an '02 Trooper...it is a great vehicle...but it has made me realize I really don't like SUV's in general. I might send it down the road, even the better half wants another truck. What that is, I don't know...seeing this refresh on the Tacoma, my hopes aren't high. It will have some minor improvements and that is it.

So after over 10 years, all Toyota could do is a cosmetic update and increased pricing? Sad. Sad indeed. Makes me want to go find another gen1 doublecab and put it on ice.

I have thought the same thing, really like my 1st gen...considered adding another.

I think they are waiting to see what Colorado does to their market share. Unless they really get some competition they are going to drag this drivetrain out for a while.

I agree, some angles of the ’10-’15 4Runner aren’t very flattering but compared to everything else on the market the 4Runner is the Jennifer Aniston of the body on frame SUV’s. I’d say it is a lot more appealing than the Taco that was dropped on us tonight. As far as SUVs, we’ve had Tahoe Z71’s (2002, 2004 and 2013) around for the past 10 years. We thought we were over the SUV thing too until we’ve gone without one for a year now and kind of miss one (the '89 Burb and '92 4Runner don't count..those are just toys). The only Tahoe I really miss is the 2004, it was a good rig. Shouldn’t have sold it! The 2013 sucked and felt like a big fat pig which is why it got traded for a ’14 Impala. The new 4Runners are nice, nimble, perfect size, last of the Mohicans body on frame SUVs that are still worth owning and it is a bargain priced vehicle compared to overpriced Tahoes we had been buying.

I sure had high hopes of the new Taco being a candidate for a new family truckster as well but don’t see that happening now unless we find out these pictures were a diversion to the real truck that will be shown on the 12th, which I doubt.

I had hopes the Taco would look something like this….(less the ghetto cruiser wheels obviously)

Nah, I think we will definitely see a powertrain update. At the very least, the addition of direct injection and maybe a transmission with one more cog as that seems to be the industry norm these days.

Think I have used the rear seat twice in the few years I have owned it. But it always seems like we need to haul something. I was really hating it when I did a major over-all on the Taco for 6 weeks. Might keep it as a backup vehicle or send it off...not sure.

Another truck for sure is being added. Not sure if the 2016 will have enough improvements for me to throw money at it. A 2nd gen with a super charger might be the ticket though.

Think you're right, but nothing Earth shattering, might see a mile or three bump up in mpg's...don't think much more. Probably going to hold out until 2017 when they are forced to make major changes for CAFE.

I get the feeling they made a decision to forgo what could have been almost an "elegant" solution with a dropped hood-line and reduced grill for the option photographed.

I imagine there was a reason, wonder if we'll ever get to know what it was?
