2015 RAM Rebel

The 1" lift and 33's is not bad, people generally have way more lift and tire than they will ever use. The interior has a little too much bling for me though.

Boom. Glad someone think the way I do.

Is the styling a bit much? Sure. But put that aside, it's actually highly suitable for what we're into - overland expeditions.

You can haul a sizeable load without your headlights pointing to the sky, thanks to the air suspension. You have enough height to travel just about any non-paved ROAD, and another inch of on the fly lift to clear the occasional washout / fallen branch. Then on the hwy, you can get decent mileage and safe high speed handling with the lowered stance. It's essentially a truck LR3/4.

Sure, you can put stiffer springs, LT tires aftermarket. And if you have a RAM already, that makes sense. But if you're in the market for a new one, why DIY when RAM has a ready made package? As long as the price doesn't get ridiculous, it's a solid buy.

I do not understand why the factory fools think that all of the "off road trucks" require a stupid looking grill design. The Raptor, Rebel, TuRD and the Reaper all look like azz. The Silverado really jacks me when IMHO the new Z-71 grill is the best in 30 years from Chevy. It reminds me of the 84-87 front clip.

As for the "off road" aspect. I laugh every time I hear folks say the Raptor is king, BS! It's a dune runner, like the one hit wonders of the 80's. The Power Wagon does everything, it wheels, tows, and hauls a payload. The only thing I want to see added to it's options is a Cummins power plant.

I was envisioning some type of combo of these two.

I was hoping for larger decals and brand imaging.

The new wranglers have something to the effect of 33 (thirty three!) combined logo's on them. One on each wheel, 2 on the windshield, one on every vent inside, on the steering wheel, dashboard, etc.

Are they really worried that people won't know they're driving a jeep?

You know your design team did a crap-tastic job when you have to splatter your logo across a vehicle that many times in order for people to recognize it.

Not impressed. If RAM would make a 1500 version of a Power Wagon I'd seriously trade mine today. Maybe that's the rub... just add a little something for the folks that will pay a whole lot more mark up and drive margin dollars to their bottom line. Its a business after all.

No, not a Raptor rival but more of TRD Pro rival…

Pretty ugly and pretty disappointing they continue to use the electric Rotatory dial shifter to command the sweet ZF derived 8 speed.

I agree it's ugly, I would've preferred a 1500 Power wagon or a 1500 rubicon

Why disappointing about the rotary shifter?? That thing is awesome! Gets the job done, using less space than the old column shift or incredibly stupid console shifter. Love those rotary shifters!!

This will be a nice truck for sure! It will be a good consideration when looking at GM's 1500 Z71's, Ford's F150 FX4, and Tundra's TRD PRO. The first reports I read on the introduction of this truck were mixed. Some stated a Raptor Competitor where others stated it was not. Obviously it's not intended to compete directly with the Raptor, but I think will grab some market share from the other Big Three.

I was honestly hoping for a 1500 Power Wagon'ish truck. Or at least a rear locking diff and Torsen front with a higher performance shock.

I try to post neutral responses since I am both a Ford and Ram fan. ..currently driving a '14 Power Wagon, but have also owned what the article were first alluding to take on (Raptors).

Either way, it's a step in the right direction toward developing more off road capable trucks....we can only hope.
