2016 Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero spied - Most likely coming to North America

SirFrancisDrake

2002 Montero Ltd
Our spies have managed to snap the first pictures of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero (aka Montero and Shogun).

Looking far more modern than its predecessor, the redesigned model adopts a prominent grille which is flanked swept back headlights. The model also features muscular wheel arches, an upward sweeping shoulder line and a gently sloping roof. We can also see a heavily camouflaged rear end which is more rounded than its predecessor.

Our spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos but the model is expected to have an upgraded cabin with higher quality materials and modern amenities.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but we can expect petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid variants. The latter will use the same plug-in hybrid system as the Outlander PHEV.

Little else is known about the model but it is expected to ride on a new platform that should enable the 2016 Pajero to be slightly lighter than its predecessor. We can also expect improved handling and better agility.

Looks like an Outlander and CRV had a baby? Can't wait to hear about specs.

Looks like it is probably the pajero sport rather than the full fat pajero. The lines on the front are very like the current L200, and it doesn't have the same upright position the pajero has

That front bumper looks like came off a new Toyota/Lexus. Why can't car designers come up with their own material these days?

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
looks little bigger than sport models, Mitsubishi needs to bring them in U.S /North America market if they didn't want to say Hello to Suzuki or Isuzu.

That's the New Sport which i must say is AWESOME totally worthy and if they sell it here i will buy one. It's more Montero than the Gen 3 & 4 in my opinion but like posted above it is the new Triton L200 SUV not a Montero (Like Sports have always been).

Did you guys know that in Mexico you can buy a new 2015 Triton 4 door 4x4 3.2 diesel with a roofrack, grill guard and mud tires stock for $24k, that's a price i'd gladly pay.

I actually saw one here in D.C area back in 2014, didn't get a chance to talk to owner, apparently he was able to import it.

Also it's the same BIG axles we all know and love, trailing arms and coils in the rear (solid axle), the front has been updated to coilover/struts and rack and pinion steering.

You followed me, so now we're both lost
Not that it is bad looking, but if the tire is not mounted on the rear door, then it is not a Montero/Pajero to me.

It's NOT a Montero/Pajero, never was and never will be BUT if it IS a 5th Generation Triton L200 SUV (Challenger/Montero Sport) it will be in my opinion is more Montero than anything we've had since '04. Yeah the Gen 3 is great but it's not for everyone, this new truck should be a step back from the Gen 3 into a more ruggedized offroad machine.
