Any time I see a big jacked up truck with a giant codpiece grill and stacks, feel bad for their girlfriends and wives...poor things. :sombrero:
That's so true, the opposite end of the spectrum.

On the subject of unibody trucks and thier strength lets remember the jeep comanche, when equiped with the right axle and springs had a payload of over 2,200 pounds.
On the subject of how manly your veichle is/ should be:
One of my favorite memories with my old 2wd s10 mini truck (least manly truck available) was arriving at the city landfill to drop off an old couch. I politely declined my wife's help and over head pressed it and threw it in the dumpster. Meanwhile the skinny bro in the lifted bro truck in front of who looked like he had been thier for some time had to have his girlfriend help him with.

Nothing manly about throwing your back out.
Sounds like you need to swap vehicles with the wife then.

Hope you get it figured out.
That's what I figure! I actually drive less than her weekly. Doh!
You'll just have to make a weekly run to Houghton or Wakefield to pick up some pasties![]()
Yeah, gotta invent some sort of excuse. Can't wait to take it on a road trip. It's gotta be the ultimate road trip truck. I only drove it once so far and it was snowing pretty hard with really deep snow on the roads so I have barely gotten to experience it yet. I don't get home till the 23rd from this trip so I hope I can conjure up some excuse to go somewhere. Toying around with the idea of taking this instead of the Suburban to tow our camper for our annual spring southern Utah pilgrimage.
Would be a good way to give it a shakedown and stretch it's legs. Do you plan on getting a topper for it with a rack?
We want to keep it capless so we can throw gear and home project stuff/ firewood in it. Trying to convince the wife that softopper might be a good option so we can have dry storage when we need it but can quickly switch it to an open bed. Only thing that would prevent us from doing is hauling a canoe or kayaks. Was thinking of maybe putting a ladder rack on it or having one built that could work in conjunction with a soft topper. Probably won't go that route while we have other vehicles that can haul boats.

Just something to consider if you are looking at a Duramax 2.8.

I dunno p nut...even though the Tacoma is butt ugly, still thinking the SR 4Banger is best for a long term vehicle.
Not to keep beating the dead horse, but so you can put your nearly-dead horse out of its misery,I agree--get that Taco. I still think the V6 is a worthwhile upgrade, but if you're happy with the I4, go for it. You could always regear if needed. Should last you a loooong time.
