2018 WRANGLER

That would temp me sorely. The range and towing capacity....

Yep. But I've spent so much on my JK that switching to another jeep and starting over (even with a diesel) would really really suck - especially as I'm almost finished paying it off.

At EJS one of the Jeep design guys actually said out loud he feels sorry for all the JK guys, because the JL is so good.....

(of course he has to say that... but...)

Before we bought our '16 wrangler we shopped it against the new tacoma but just couldn't pull the trigger knowing a wrangler truck is in the pipe. And we have three jk's, well two and a half as the '08 is in pieces needing a heart transplant, so we aren't interested in the JL. What we want is a wrangler based truck. Diesel, dana 44's, auto/rubi transfer case, 4 doors and a bed. Down payment is ready and waiting.

Side by side are not street legal and also ridiculously expensive for what they are. They are so large anyway it defeat the purpose. I don't understand why anyone would buy one to be honest.

Depends where you live. Side X Sides are street legal where I live and see them all the time driving down the street. I like that you can have one set of tires for the woods, one for the street, and one sand dunes. I can change the vehicle set up for multiple locations in a matter of minutes.

Hi

On of the best or the best info about every new Wrangler comes from Milous, I have followed him for many years. He probably work at jeep or have extremely good inside conection. Its always intresting when he update the info with new colors etc. I dont trust anybody else:). A little bit down You will find info about 2018 wrangler from Milous and it is last updated 5/14/2016 and it says "New: 3.0L VM Diesel engine for North America (with new 8HP75 transmission)" http://www.jeepgarage.org/f89/2018-wrangler-jl-jp-information-thread-97265.html

Here he gives info about 2017 http://www.jeepgarage.org/f89/2017-wrangler-information-thread-95956.html

It is dumb they are not legal here. Thing is, we drive em on the street anyways. The police don't mind as long as you are just doddleing along to the trail.

Mines paid off, however, if the diesel is that good! I may have to dive into a new jeep.

One nice thing about Jeeps is that you usually have a 10 year span to move to the new Wrangler model if you like. If they are that good I may move over during the middle of the road refresh.

I feel ya. My JK is a '14, 62,000 miles, lifetime warranty, paid off. I plan to drive the wheels off. But the lifetime is finite at ~ 25,000 miles/year and the diesel would be the replacement. Say a 2024 or so...?

In that case they would be worth my consideration. I could imagine driving a SxS to work, that would be fun. Of course trail on the week end.

I would love to have a fully street legal SXS, i would trade in the ranger to get the kawasai teryx 4. I love that, and its my next sxs for sure. I am a kawasaki fan.
