China is literally the only place where I've seen a "bad air quality" warning on my phone's weather app...they've really done a number on their environment.
And as much as they talk about going towards EV's, I truly wonder if they'll be able to remediate their environmental issues.
That's the big discrepancy between us and many other developing nations....we have the capability to manufacture and produce goods, but we have a lot more regulations (especially environmental and labor) to deal with, whereas many other countries (China being a prime example) have little redtape to deal with (outside of getting the Party's blessing).
It is pretty dang bad over there.
I'll get "bad air quality" warnings here, but it is mainly during fire season. Occasionally during the winter too with the inversion. There have been times where I can't even see more than a block down our street. Remember the acid rain scare a couple decades ago from manufacturing in Canada?
EV's...there is no free lunch, however I see it as a way to isolate the pollution. A lot easier to control the pollution out of a few power plants, rather than millions of individual vehicles. As one small example, just look at the guys who "delete" their diesels on here.
Would imagine most major cities, that most of the pollution would go away if everyone had an EV. Would equate it to when smoking was banned in resturants and bars. My work commute during the cooler months...all I can smell are diesel fumes from all the semi's and diesel 3/4-1 Tons we have here. That would go away if we all drove EV's.
I know we complain about how tight the EPA regulations are here, but the alternative isn't a good thing. China being a prime example of that.
