2019 Ram HD Interior... WTFudge???

So while getting the oil changed today I saw a new 2019 HD Ram in the showroom (not a Power Wagon). With excitement I opened the door, slid the seat all the way back, climbed in and smashed my knee on the dash. As I checked to make sure the seat was all the way back (and cuss like a sailor) I looked to see what I hit my knee on. Ram Engineers in their wisdom relocated the four wheel drive shifter on the dash, right where my knee was. I guess if you’re on average height this is not an issue, but at 6’8” this essentially tells me if the Power Wagon is like this, I’m in my last Ram Truck. I know this is really only Ogre sized people problems, but I’m really disappointed in Ram. I had high hopes for a 2022 Power Wagon, but now I’m kind of lost.

What trim level was this one?

I would think in a lower trim level that the 4x buttons are actual levers on the floor.

I don’t remember what trim the truck was. The problem is in the new Power Wagon, the locker/axel disconnect are in the same place.

What's wrong with a danged stick in the middle of the floor, you know, next to transmission gear shift?

ETA: That interior. Ugh. What are you doing, driving a truck or piloting a jumbo jet? At least they put the transfer case shifter in the right place though.

It's not as bad as the jeep interior yet. Get on it Ram. Chop, chop.

Don't like the dial shifter either. Maybe dial and paddle shift could work.

Just put every vehicle control on the wheel.

Like 80's / 90's Pontiac Bonneville SSEi's and 6000 STE's? lol

I wont say smashed but I checked on some 2019's HDs too, I'm only 6'3 but I remember wedging my knee right there and thinking ******? this is where my knee goes. Now that shifter dial protrudes there.

Makes me wonder if knees hitting those buttons and changing gears while driving is a possibility? Or is there some kind of fail safe that prevents that from happening at speed?

Its all fly by wire, so should not let you. Just turn it and nothing happens. I am currently working on a risk management contract for a large multi national cooperation, and for whatever reason- anytime we used the dodges as fleet trucks w/ the dial we had an increase in accidents. Stupid stuff, like employees ( im talking over 50 from around the US, who did the same things) would put it in forward or reverse- and go the direction they did not expect. Not an engineering problem, Employee dials it in reverse, turns around to watch, presses accelerator, notices no movement increases throttle, they had actually put truck in forward and ended up hitting stuff.

Also confirmed that if you are moving, cant switch it to N, or drive, reverse unless truck is not in motion.

Dont get me wrong, " special" employees play their part. These accidents weren't happening on trucks with a more traditional set up.. Just weird. Actually caused us to no longer use Dodge for Fleet vehicles.

That kid from the new Star Trek movies was pinned and killed by his Jeep Cherokee by doing the same thing. He thought it was in park but it was in N and the hill assist held it in place till he got in front.

I can totally see that happening, espically with people in a hurry that really don’t care about the vehicle.

i personally cannot believe they're still using a manual throw transfer case. I love manual over electronic, but there is no point in having a manual transfer case lever any more.
