2021 F150 Tremor Thoughts?

Oh, my bad- Was he referring to a Ranger when he said lacks space? If that's the case then hell yeah the ranger is Tiny lol
I think just midsize in general. I said Ranger just to compare space in a midsize vs full size from the same manufacture.

Yup, midsize in general, as the OP mentioned the Gladiator. I had a 2015 F150 and it was like driving a living room with the amount of space. All very welcome by the wife/kids.

My current truck is like an old version of a Tremor. 2012 XLT 3.5lEco Supercrew ShortBed 4x4, Bilstein 6112/5160's, 275/70r19 General Atx. Unfortunately the poor truck has lived its entire life in the salty mess of Wisconsin winters. The body is rusting faster than i can keep up with it. Only 120k on it and i dont plan to get rid of it, however when i do get a second vehicle it will be demoted to my hunting and, "truck stuff," vehicle. I really, really like the Gladiator Rubi- but with two kids, two adults, and 100lb fur missile the payload capacity is tough to ignore. We do travel really light (wife and i were avid backpackers once upon a time), but even so i dont like the idea of riding around at or are very close to payload capacity all the time. Thus we are considering a Tremor as an alternative.

Why i like the 2021 Tremor:
>Locking rear diff - Current truck has open diffs.
>Limited Slip front diff available
>Decent factory shocks
>Aluminum body (Ruuust)
>3.5Ecoboost - I have the 1st gen so I'm familiar with the platform, its issues, and quirks of the engine.
>1885lbs of payload - nearly 500lbs more than my current truck.
>Fuel range - My current F150 has a 36 gallon tank, or roughly 500miles between fill ups. I assume the 21 Tremor will be similar or better.

My hopes are that it can be factory outfitted with a winch like the Tremor Superduty. Im doubtful because it comes with the 3.5L Ecoboost as the only engine option, but a guy can hope. If it can be ordered with a factory winch, its very nearly a turn key rig. Toss a camper/tent and a fridge in the back and go - which would be awesome for a guy with a family. I like building out vehicles as much as the next guy, but spending that time traveling with my wife and littles is waaayyy more important to me.

I think it was @Jnich77 that posted a link to an intercooler relocation kit so you can run a winch. This was a while ago so my memory may not be up to snuff.

Yep, voids your warranty though. Hoping Ford comes up with a fix so the Tremor can be ordered from the factory with a winch mounted and ready to go. Heck now that Ford has teamed up with ARB and Warn i see no reason for them not to offer on board air or a winch on this truck. They put all this effort into the Tremor F150, it would be a real oversite if they hadnt thought to engineer the option for a winch into these trucks.

I’m all for factory options so it would be great if they get ARB and Warn to offer upgrades from the factory.

I’d imagine they could probably get the winch to work with ecoboost. I mean, doesn’t PS diesel Tremor come with a winch?

*Voids the warranty on the intercooler and associated plumbing, nothing else.

IMHO: it's 100% worth it. Even on a 100% stock truck you'll notice a difference in IATs and performance from an aftermarket intercooler.

Potentially. Unless you had issues with a factory turbo or other powertrain component and Ford figures out a way to blame it on an the aftermarket intercooler. There is inherent risk with modifying any vehicle under warranty. I also dont like the idea of dropping $50,000 on a brand new vehicle only to spend money on an intercooler when it could be spent on a fridge, or camper, or some other travel related expense. Your mileage may vary, and i certainly wouldnt fault anyone who decided to put in an aftermarket intercooler, it just isnt for me. Cheers

I also feel like the FX4 and the Tremor are basically the same thing- Tremor just has better tires and aux switches which you can have installed from factory on most models. The only REAL difference is the limited slip in the front when they actually release it later in the year

Actually with the F150 the only ones you can get upfitter switches installed from the factory are the Tremor and Raptor

My current ride is a 19 FX4 with Max tow. I really like the idea of the Tremor, but I would like to see a bit more Offroad worthiness before I give up the FX4. Snow, Ice, mud, forestry service roads, gravel are all easy as it is now.
A selectable front locker, a deep low range transfer case (think 4:1), factory lift. Basically the difference between the Rubicon and a standard Wrangler but in a F 150.
So, does the Tremor package effect payload? and can I stack it? Say with the HDPP and MaxTow packages.

Anybody considering the new F150 Tremor? I was pretty set on a Gladiator Rubi for my next rig, but the F150 Tremor offers more space and payload for hauling kids and dogs. Im currently running a 2012 F150 with a very similar setup to a stock Tremor.

Have you driven a gladiator yet? I test drove a Mojave. Very nice for my needs but I wouldn’t want more than 1 other person and a dog.
And the comfort, power and range of the f150 are miles above the JT.

I test drove a 2020 Gladiator Rubi when they first hit the market. The example I drove had serious steering issues... However, I recently drove a 2021 Gladi Rubi and it was flawless. I really, really enjoyed it. They are smaller, but we travel very light and the capability of a Rubi is tough to ignore - granted I havent needed that level of capability in a vehicle yet.

Power and range of the F150 are indeed excellent, and ultimately what are pushing me that direction. I test drove a friends tuned 2.7l F150 prior to the 21 Gladi. I kept thinking while driving the Gladi how awesome it would be if it had that 2.7l in it.

What I want is a vehicle as off road capable as a Gladi Rubicon, with the form factor, range, and comfort of an F150... I believe they call it a Prospector XL haha. Unfortunately that's beyond my budget at this time.
