2021 F150 Tremor Thoughts?

Yep, I got the moon roof because it was at a discount. What I didn’t take into account was that it discounted my payload by a couple hundred pounds. Those options add up quickly, but damn its nice on a long trip.
I did add a HD RAS to my truck and bumped up to E rated tires. That added some stability to the truck under load and towing, on FM roads I don’t notice any difference in ride or traction.
Some of the options are hard to find, even when building a truck with the builder app on the website. It just doesn’t show all the options for the things I am looking into. Even though I’m not in the market any time soon.

I'm guessing, like on all the other 'offroad' specialty rigs, the HDPP will very very unlikely be offered and I'd doubt the MaxTow.

I actually just order a 21' F150, Max Tow, HDPP, 3.5EB and they won't even allow you to get heated seats in the darn thing! Makes NO sense, but in talking with the salesman who was knowledgeable (first time in my life) he said he thought they wanted to keep the HDPP's at a high max rating and once you start adding to many gizmos it's starts eating into those ratings somewhat defeats the purpose, I can kinda see the logic, I guess. With that said, stuff like the Tremor package with bigger tires, skidplates, etc, it's counter-productive to the principle behind the HDPP to begin with from Ford perspective - but 100% agree, it would be a cool rig.

I like the idea of buying an offroad rig ready to go, but the Tremor stuff can be added aftermarket very easily (outside of the Torsen diff).....lift, tires, protection. That's the route I'm going to have to take.
Congrats! When are you supposed to get it? I keep building the same truck on Fords website, haha

Met too, decided to just pull the trigger! They told me around 8 weeks, give or take, not ideal but I'd rather have exactly what I want vs settling for a truck I could find which was not hard outside of the HDPP, the sales guy looked into those and said there were NONE in the country on lots :)

Same here too. No HDPP's to be found. And, like you I'd prefer to order one anyway so I can get want I want. (color, bucket seats, tailgate step etc...)

I ordered the buckets too w/center console after them sending me home overnight with the bench...I think it's the way to go! I didn't end up getting the gate step but could see it as being useful, I was really on the fence with it but had to balance spending the $$ vs how much I used it....I reasoned it away thinking between not getting the step and no FX4 package that was my tire upgrade, ~$1500.

Also added the 360 camera (which is super cool) and tow mirrors....in Silver!

Having the tailgate step, I would pass. Hardly every use it and the plastic cap that covers up the assy pops off easy. And it adds weight.

I have the tailgate step now and use it every time we head out. Plus countless other times loading / unloading the box. Makes climbing in and out of the box sooooo much easier.

I'd never own a F150 with out it now.

Had this truck over 4 year now and haven't had the cover pop off once yet?

NickW, what made you change out the Ranger for the F150? I've been debating if I could downsize from a F150 to a Ranger....

Good question on Ranger - just got to the point where I outgrew it. We have a 5k TT, which the Ranger pulls no problem, but the lack of bed space was a big limiter since I can't have my dirtbike in back without tailgate down and can't tow with tailgate down due to clearance issues. There are some workarounds that negate that to a certain extent. Also, with our TT and 2-3 weeks worth of gear, we need more interior space....especially now that we are getting another pup.

We've also talked about getting a slide in down the road, something like a FWC, which works a lot better in a full-size rig with better payload, in saying that, my Ranger has better payload than many full-size 1/2 tons.

Honestly, the major driver for most of this is we are much more mobile with being able to work from home these days. We are also planning to spend part of the year working remotely outside of the city. I adore the Ranger, it's a great rig, easy to park, great fuel economy, looks cool, etc. If I just needed a rig to rip around and MTB and moto with, Ranger 10/10 times, now that I'm getting into trailering and possibly camper install, things started shifting.....but 0 regrets with Ranger, it was the right truck at the time and would buy another if my priorities shift (again).

Well, I have had it pop off when unloading the truck. Dragging sacks of feed or other stuff out.
So a few measurements.

And my favorite step, the tire.

As you can see she is not a polished and primped Queen. She is my Dirty Gurl, always ready for a romp.

Our TT is about 5K loaded. So I figured a Ranger should handle it. But, we also use the bed to haul a bunch of firewood. (thinking payload) Plus, if we get a trailer that's a bit bigger I'm not sure I'd want to tow it with a Ranger. Just that for 95% of the time I'm not towing..... Argh.

Yup - age old dilemma. I'd say, if I had the room and didn't live near a city, I think the F150 is probably worth having if you 'think' you may need it, my 2c!

As you ordered a HDPP XLT, it would either have to be a 300a or 301a package. You mentioned you optioned the 360 camera. Is it still the 8" screen or does it get bumped to the 12" screen of the 302a?

Good question, I lost patients trying to figure it all out. I think it's just the 8", according to the online build sheet the 302A I couldn't add (see below) is 8", but so is the 301A that I had to include:

*Edit - it looks like you need at least a Lariat to get the 12"...
