OEV Camp X- The toughest, lightest 4-season truck camper on the market

Purchased from the original owner early in 2024. He had only camped in it a few nights and kept it stored inside, so it was in brand-new condition.

I made some modifications to maximize storage and organization with plans to head up to the Arctic Circle this summer and then head down to Mexico this winter. Unfortunately, life had other plans so I only used it for a nice brief trip up the PNW this summer and now have it up for sale.

Features:
  • Queen bed that expands to a king
  • Dinette turns into an additional 32” by 77” lower bed
  • 1.5” thick foam core composite walls (R9) and R4 insulated pop top keep the camper warm in the winter and cool in the summer sun.
  • Thick aluminum exoskeleton makes this one of the strongest, most durable campers for off roading adventures
  • Maxxfan roof vent and waterproof solar vent fan
  • Custom designed battery box area with additional drawer space above the battery and storage compartment below
  • 6 Canvas storage compartments which greatly increase the inside storage and organization
  • Tons of storage bins measured to fit perfectly throughout the inside

2023 Ford F150 XLT FX4 Regular Cab Shortie w/ 5.0 L Coyote V8

Purchased new in late fall of 2023 this XLT, short wheel base (122.8”) naturally aspirated V8 engine (the infamous tried and true “Coyote”) monster was chosen to be the most reliable, highest payload, shortest full size truck in the US. The goal was to build an Overland rig that had all the comforts of a much larger RV in a very small, extremely nimble, and reliable package. The dream was to be small enough to get to places far beyond the reach of huge expedition vehicles and the long-wheel based swaying vanlifers without giving up on amenities.

2023 was the last year Ford would offer this short wheel base regular cab in the XLT FX4 package. So when I found this one late 2023 I jumped on it. The FX4 was important to me for the offroad modes and hill descent that you can’t get on the lower trim models.

Upgrades to the truck (valued over $15,000 total invested on truck)
  • RCI full aluminum skid plates including catalytic guard and steel differential skid plate
  • 2023 Ford F150 Raptor bead lock wheels (including spare)
  • Falken Wild Peak AT3W 285/75 R17 E rated tires (including spare)
  • 2.5” front level from Off Road Warehouse with alignment and cams
  • Airlift Load Lifter 5000 Ultimate with dual air lines plumbed to the rear license plate lower screw holes
  • Dee Zee aluminum side steps
  • Built Right Industries Molle panels in the truck bed (4, one with a Rotopax mount for 2 gallon water tank
  • Lariat leather seats
  • Xpel Ceramic XR UV/ radiant heat tint on all windows including windshield
  • Husky no drill wheel flares with integrated blinkers
  • Dash molle panel for phones/ GPS etc
  • Lariat grey front grille (Chrome delete)
  • XLT grey F150 emblems (Chrome delete)
  • Custom rock chip textured wrap protects bumpers and rocker panels running the full sides of the truck. Similar to Rhino liner but removable and more durable. (Bumpers are chrome under wrap)
  • Weather tech over the hump rubber floor mats
  • Mcgard wheel locks
  • Ford spare tire lock
Lighting from Diode Dynamics (over $4000 without install)
  • Diode Dynamics Elite Max headlights
  • SS3 Max ditch lights
  • SS3 Max SAE fog pocket kit
  • Hitch mount LED Pod reverse/ brake light (C1R + brake)
  • Trigger wireless 6 shooter switching system
Maintenance
  • Oil changes at 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 miles with full synthetic oil
  • Cabin and air filter changed at 15,000 miles
  • Tires rotated ever 5,000 miles with 5 tire/spare rotation
  • 20,000 miles on truck
Price $88,995 for truck and camper

Hard to find comps on it since most of these configurations, short wheel base, long bed with the 5.0 Liter coyote V8 were built up for sub 10 second drag race trucks. Most with base mods run in the mid 50's to mid 60's from 2022-2023.

Ford stopped producing this configuration with any options and only sell it with the super basic XL package, no driving modes, no power seats, no FX4 package with the hill descent, no XLT package etc. It is sort of a unicorn now.

I have $15,000 in parts alone in the build up of the truck to make it what it is, a purpose built super short wheelbase, true off capable truck that drives very well on and off road with the camper.

I replaced them. The factory lights are only white and super bright white with no dimming. I installed dimmable lights that you touch the light and hold to dim up and down. They are warm white and you can also have them red for night vision. They are much better than the factory ones.

Gorgeous build, really love me a regular cab. Do you still have the tailgate? What's the payload? Did I miss how many miles are on it?

Sorry completely forgot to put the miles!! 20,000 but I still drive it so it might go up a bit.

Yes I have the tailgate. It is on now and the camper is in storage. It is fairly easy to put the camper on and off and the truck is a great daily driver also.

Payload is 1750 lbs
