2023 Ford Raptor- Continuation

Holy ********. I won the proverbial truck lottery, finally... I found and put my name on a 2023 Raptor today, it's built, and on a train car at the factory, should be here in Canada in the next 30-45 days. Going to head to Baja in the fall.

2023 Raptor
Avalanche grey
Carbon Fiber package
Forged beadlocks

Exactly how I would have ordered it. So excited. Lol. Already ordering parts haha

Wish I found it before I spent a bunch of $$ modifying this Limited, but these don't come around often...

Congrats! What are your plans for the Raptor?

And it is here. Wow this thing is amazing.

First thing, the interior even in a loaded Raptor is a SERIOUS downgrade from the previous Limited, with the exception of the steering wheel and paddle shifters in the Raptor is so much nicer than the thin dainty steering wheel in the Ltd.

Very cool colour (Avalanche Grey)

However the truck is by far the best driving truck i've owned, period. The suspension is incredible on road (bear with me for off road review... Truck has 34 miles on it currently. Lol)

The exhaust settings are cool, from silent in quiet mode, to way too loud, but sounding very similar to a GTR in "Baja" mode. Way too loud but I will admit absolutely hilarious!

Plans:

We're going to Baja in the fall, so prepping for that. Need a mount to hold 2 full size spares, pro eagle jack, fuel, cooler etc,
Deciding on going with an MT (Toyo MT/BFG KM3) or sticking with an all terrain (BFG KO2, Falken AT3W etc), but will be on 37x12.50x17's on the factory forged beadlocks.

Likely adding Eibach springs to give it some height (2" front, 1.5 rear)

Also definitely adding hydro bumps, I tend to get a bit carried away with things, so this is a good safety net.

Aux lighting; Likely going with 4x BD LP6's, mounted on the bumper, 2 amber for dust/snow, and 2 white, also may go BD or Rigid 40" light bar (something insane like 40,000 Lumens)

If you’re deciding between a MT(Toyo) and AT(Falken); I would take a look at the Falken Wildpeak RT. They bridge the gap between the AT and MT. I wanted a 37” tire for my new truck and the Nitto Ridge Grapplers where out of stock, so I gave those a try, and they have been great.

37's on. Put them on a basic black rhino wheel that will eventually be my winter wheel. Has the 37's on it for now, will have a stock size (315/70/17) Studded Nokian hakkapelita for winter, and the 37's will be on the factory forged beadlocks.

Fascinating to me that we can get a bone stock F150 that fits 37's with zero rubbing. Insane. Lol.

Very nice truck! What about the interior do you find to be a downgrade from the Limited?

The color reminds me a bit of Space White but maybe a little darker?

I poke around on 14thgen.com as well, and the Raptor steering wheel swap seem to be a common mod.

Just out of curiosity what is the payload rating on a truck like that?

Thx! Yup it's very similar to space white, just darker. I will check out the payload rating on the door, I would imagine it's tiny.

Interior wise the leather in the Ltd was FAR nicer, the dash was leather wrapped instead of soft plastic on the Raptor, the door panels were leather wrapped in the ltd, some sort of textured soft touch plastic on the raptor, Center console was full leather on the ltd, the raptor is a cheap pleather

The Raptor is 10,000x the truck of the LTD, but the interior is nowhere as nice.

That said, I much prefer the utilitarian feel of the Raptor.

Went for a nice 100km cruise through the high desert, this thing is incredible. Rides like no other truck i've ridden in. I cannot describe how much that 5 link rear is amazing. The shocks are incredible, especially changing the modes on the shocks with a button on the steering wheel, with huge changes being felt instantly.

Very impressed. Also the 37s are perfect. Still no rubbing despite a 100% stock truck.

I really wish such a light trailer didn't squat the Raptor so bad, and truck is stock, not levelled. It towed great however, but when i'm loaded a bit heavier (the trailer + side by side + ~20 gallons fuel weighs ~4000lbs at the most, just over 50% of rated towing capacity which should be more than safe) + in the truck another person, luggage, spare tires, jack etc etc. I fear it will squat BAD, not looking forward to to the 6000km roadtrip we do every year. The sport mode on the shocks is nice, helps control the extra weight though.

Overall my favorite truck i've ever owned, by a country mile. \

Also I liked this pic: Phone jammed into a snow bank. I was impressed by the clarity at ~65mph. Haha.
