We originally bought our Grit Overland GO/AT about a year and a half ago after carefully looking at many competitors.
We were taking a sabbatical off of work and knew, with our dog we wanted to tour many places around the US. We were especially drawn to the van as our dog is 13.5, and we knew we couldn't take her with us everywhere. With the large power system, efficient AC, and ability to auto start the van at high idle to charge the batteries when low, we could sometimes leave her in the van and we felt it was a good vehicle for the three of us.
With us living in the van about 4 months, our sabbatical is coming to a end and us on our last week of travel we won’t be able to use the van up to its full potential and hate for it to just sit in the driveway (especially as we have another adventure vehicle). So we’re going to be listing it to sell.
For those not familiar with Grit Overland, they are a small van manufacturer outside of Portland Oregon, making RVIA certified vans, similar to Storyteller Overland but on the ford chassis. The van is designed to be able to handle the beaten track, they use an aluminum subframe everything ties into including their aluminum framed cabinets so everything is very secure and most of the weight is down low. Its a good combination of convenience with the systems such as indoor and outdoor showers, while keeping the weight manageable. The GO/AT was their more premium model, but currently have transitioned to the GO LINK they are building more on mass with less features.
You can find a lot of the spec sheet at https://gritoverland.com/archive-goat-all-terrain/ with the power system being a special highlight. A 48v power system means the inverter can charge at nearly 6k watts driving down the road and an efficient undermount AC allowing for lots of roof space for storage. The van can even self start and run on high idle when low, ensuring you never run out of power.
Our setup is designed for two, we added a Canyon Adventure Vans bench which has a lot of storage (including for our CAV AMT dry flush style toilet) and we have a rear slide out from Shuskan vans including a lockable cabinet, and an extra dometic cooler we use as a freezer (a game changer on long trips!). Soft cabinets inside ensure lots of storage space. We have DIY'd a N/S sleeping solution which is easy to set up if you're taller but for most people sleeping E/W is easy with flares on both sides.
Our van then has a lot of off-road upgrades, from premium brands, all installed professionally by Grit including:
+ CATuned Bumper
+ Superwinch winch
+ Lighting Package (lots of Baja Design LP6's and rear lights)
+ Walkable Flatline Van Company safari style roof rack (with added storage boxes)
+ Starlink high performance
+ Lockable Aluminess rear tire carrier
+ Rear Owl Vans cabinet and bike rack
+ ARB Air compressor
+ Oversized AT tires/black alloy wheels (owl vans), 2" lift, tuned Falcon adjustable rear reservoir shocks, high clearance rear shock mounts, front/rear skid plates & Sumo springs.
+ Full bug nets
Some items within the GO/AT:
+ Go Farther Power System™ (the ultimate off-grid power solution):
Lithronics 8,448wH battery, victron 3000 watt inverter, Rapid Charging (Ultra-fast charging
from 2nd high output alternator: 1 hour to charge) - auto start the engine at high idle when battery is low or on demand to charge batteries.
+ 20 gal fresh water (with two stage guzzle h20 filters), heated grey water tank, Built-in 2 stage water filtration (infrared & charcoal)
+ Indoor and outdoor shower (indoor shower smartly sets up under the MaxxAir fan to vent out any steam)
+ 2 in 1 air heater & on demand Timberline water heater running off van's gas tank
