This guy is my hero. It makes me wonder what I am really doing with my life. This guy is experiencing the world in a way that I currently only dream of.

Don't feel that you're wasting anything. A free spirit like Otto required scores of people throughout his travels to have different lives, willing to stake a claim and mine for raw materials, collect tools and build factories and monuments, farm and provide food, sew clothes. We all have our path in life and how we will be remembered.
