Yes - the 460 is an incredible engine for power and reliability when maintained properly, but your mileage will be dismal. Its already 4WD, that saves a lot of money and time if you dont intend to modify the suspension, but as Chris (U-Joint) can tell you they cant be modified easily. If you want to go bigger or flexier you might be better off with a 92+ and one of his kits (as I am doing). Many people are quite happy with the simple addition of 4wd and dont want extra lift, I'm just not that guy.

I can only see the van being cool if it had 38 inch tires or bigger.. how hard is that to do, cost etc.. for this type of upgrade, not counting the tires.??

The issue you will run in to is nobody has a "kit" for that vintage van - U-Joint does but its only for 92+ and uses a different axle. If thats your plan, pass on this, call Chris at his shop (he is most helpful) and have him outline what you need to start with. Chris is the Obi-Wan of the Econoline

460 ci's didn't have efi until '88. I had a carbureted 460 and you don't want one of those. Live and learn.

Its retro-fittable but a bit of a headache, but great motors. Try and find a 92+ to do the big lift using the U-Joint kit, check out the video he posted in this section - it isnt just good lookin, it actually works very impressively!

That looks like a great deal on a starter van. It is hard to get into anything for that price. A 460 with out fuel injection you can expect 8 mpg on a good day and 7 on a bad day towing. it wont change much. I pulled my 28 foot boat with a f350 with a carb from st louis to colorado and that is what I got 8 going out
(empty) and 7 coming home with the boat. As for suspension I am not sure what a quigly setup that is that old looks like? Is still coil sprung? if so is it typical 5 link set up? I know some of the companies back in the day used some rather odd set ups. If it is 5 link (four link with a track bar) do not be scared of that, they wheel and flex great although it will probably need newer tube style arms if it uses the old quigly channel steel arms if your planning on doing some serious wheeling. Coils are cheap and easy to play with if you want to fine tune your suspension to have a great ride. The type of suspension it has will determine the price to lift it. If it is coils it can be done fairly easy if it uses leafs it may or may not be easy finding the right spring to replace it with. Good luck

I'd have to see more of the suspension to make a recommendation. I can tell you that you'll have to fabricate almost everything if you plan to lift it much!
