F350: What is the bolt pattern on your Alcoas? I assumed mine (pics above yours) were from a Lariat, but also heard the superduty bolt pattern was different than the old 8 on 6.5. What's the deal?

Seems like there is another manufacturer that makes an identical wheel to the Alcoa's. Can't remember which one tho.

Hmmm. Mine are stamped/engraved "ALCOA FORGED", and a bunch of other stuff. I'll have to look and see if the bolt pattern or any other clues are in the "other stuff".

This is not my truck but WOW, what a nice example of this look - beautiful.
Ironically, the photos were posted to sell the tires and wheels. They are Cooper S/T's. The owner was not sure about the lift but thought it was a 4". He put on some wider chrome wheels.

Just for point of reference, your wheels are actually 16x6.5 and all GM 8 lug trucks were 8 on 6.5in bolt pattern until 2011 when they switched to 8x180mm for some bazaar reason.

Are you sure about that?
I had the "expert"at Americas Tire Store tell me my 1/2 ton aluminum wheels were only 6.5 wide and they would not mount 285/75x16's on my stock wheels. (It already had a set on it that had gone 60,000 miles)
I told him he was wrong and if my wheels are only 6.5 inches wide, will you give me my tires for free?
Of course he blanched and when they took the tires off, the wheels measured 7" inside, bead to bead.
I got my 285/75x16 tires, 4th set by the way on the same stock wheels.

My point in all this is why would GM make a wheel for a 3/4 and 1 ton truck that was narrower than a 1/2 ton wheel.
I would bet that the GM factory aluminum wheels for the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are at least 7" wide.
Ive seen it advertised, the newer ones are 7.5 with the metric lug pattern.

Myself and other folks who actually own a Chevy diesel 3/4 ton would bet that they are 16x6.5, you can google it for yourself if you require confirmation of facts.

Isn't the standard 3/4 ton and 1 ton tire a 265/75x16 from the factory?

Why would GM put a bigger tire on a narrower wheel for a larger GVW vehicle?

Thanks for your insight and contribution.

I definitely will be checking it out because I had plans on using a set of these wheels on an earlier GM truck I own. I want to run 285/75x16's on it as well, so I do need to find the real measurement.

Thanks for that, I did check on several wheel seller sites and found out those wheels are 6.5 inches wide.

So now I have to look at Ford Alcoas, H2 or Dodge wheels. Dang!

I'm putting them on a 72 2wd Chevy and getting rid of 12.00x16.5 tires and wheels.

78 chevy with 255/85r16

78 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4, 350, 4 speed, 4.10:1 gears. 3 inch lift. 255/85r16 Toyo MT. Pretty much stock minus the lift and tires.

It will go anywhere I've needed to go.

^ That is a sweet truck!! :)

No. 265's were a 1-ton only option (QC1) as far as I can tell.

GM made 8-lug steel wheels in BOTH 6.5 and 7" widths, at least from '99~2007...
3500 trucks with the optional 265's got 7" wide wheels, and all the trucks with 245's got the 6.5" wheels.
The nice PYO aluminum wheels were only available on 2500's, and only with a 245/75R16 tire. They are all 6.5" wide, unfortunately. 285's bulge quite a bit, but a 255 does fit nicely on them. :)

I'm getting a set of 255/80R17's for my 2500 later this summer, or late this fall. I'll have to post some pics when I get them mounted to make up for this transgression.
:)
